HE-111
« on: July 28, 2012, 01:46:29 PM »
The HE-111 was an early war bomber that served in large numbers during WWII, but is best known for its use in the Battle of Britain. The HE-111 first flew in 1935, designed as a "high speed passenger/mail transport" during the Versills years. It saw action until 1943, when it was religated to transport roles.

If there is one plane that AH is GLARINGLY missing... the He111 is that plane.

Yes indeed, I sincerely hope HTC is able to get that Luftwaffe workhorse in to AH sooner than later.  It is not the slouch some people claim it to be.  Use some 190A-5 escorts and it shall pass safely.   :aok

As for the HE-111 you would think that the HE-111 would have been the 2nd German plane in the game right after the ME-109.

Nope.  In a fighter centric game I'd expect the Fw190A to be next, and it was.  For bombers I'd expect the Ju88 as it is more widely useful and was saw greater use, and it was.  After that, given the Ju88A-4 is not an outrageous stand in for the other early war German bombers, I wouldn't expect the He111 at any particular time.

Just like the 18000 B-24s that were built didn't have representation in the game for a long time as the B-17G had the same ground, more or less, covered.

I'm curious if whether or not the Fritz could be modeled with the He-111H-16. If coding could allow for it, it'd be one hell of a fun toy.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Oh, I'm sure it COULD be added, but the question is SHOULD it be added? Like the Nuke, V1, and V2, I don't think we should add any of those high-tech superweapons.

He-111 H6, H11/R1, and H16 would be best if we wanted to both cover it well, and give a good, semi-usefull bomber.

We could make due with the H6, and H11/R1, though the H16 would be nice for its improved amament.

Nuke won't be added because it was used twice.
V1 if added would be almost useless since targets in AH are too small.
V2 would be the same as above.

The Fritz was used effectively and plenty of times. Not a huge game breaker because the He-111 itself is vulnerable until within close range.

Its still a guided bomb, dude.

He-111 climbs to high altitude to avoid intercept, comes overhead, sinks CV.
