post restriction on 200
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:16:18 PM »
Id like to see 200 spamming come to a end. Please limit the number of post any one player can put on 200 to 10 per 60 seconds. I know we have the mute option and it works, but at times you can think a player is responding to you when in reality what you said was two pages up from his reply due to the spamming, which you don't see because you have muted the spamming player and he hasn't.

Id like to see 200 and BBS whining come to a end. Please limit the number of whines any one player can put on 200 or the BBS to 1 per 6 months. I know we have the mute option and it works, but most folks are either too lazy to use it or are a fan of whining.  At times you can think a player is responding to you when in reality what you said was two pages up from his reply due to the whining, which you see because you have not muted the whining player and are too lazy to actually do so or are just looking for an excuse to whine, yourself.

You say negative, I say pragmatic.  Potato/Po-tot-o.

HTC has given you all the tools you need.

You can completely detune 200

You can mute any player to avoid seeing their diarrhea of the mouth (In fact, I squelch the latest incarnation of Midway on sight as a matter of principal)

There are mods in the game that already act as morality police.

One can use the .report function

That is 4 ways (off the top of my head) for you to address the issue you have, yet that is not enough for you and you make a wish that coding time be   spent on more ways to regulate player behavior because it is not convenient to your standards.

Pessimism or pragmatism?

pessimism

Why should I be forced to detune 200 due to anothers actions?

Why should a spammer be allowed to spam on 200 and is not allowed to do so in here?

As far as the mute argument goes I've already explained that one.
I'm not a programmer so I don't know how much coding it would take but if its over 15Min's then your right its not worth it

Why should I be forced to detune 200 due to anothers actions? On the contrary, nobody is forcing you to do anything.  In fact, if you did not have the freedom of de-tuning 200, that would be better grounds to claim that you are being forced to do something.

Why should a spammer be allowed to spam on 200 and is not allowed to do so in here? Because a combination of Simply Sibyl and HTC regulate what is posted here and how often

As far as the mute argument goes I've already explained that one.  If it is that important, you have the option of a PM tuning that person's vox directly or picking a open vox channel to speak to each other on

I'm not a programmer so I don't know how much coding it would take but if its over 15Min's then your right its not worth it I am not, either, but I would prefer that time was spent on game resources rather than yet another redundant tool to be used to regulate player behavior when so many options already exist

You ever have a original idea von or do you just troll and decide to spin every post you can to the negative?

You proposed a wish to deal with an issue that you have with the game.

I pointed out the tools that are already in place to deal with the situation.

Is my reiteration of the obvious to be considered negativism?

Opposition does not equal negativism.  I'm not saying that your idea would not work, just that it would be redundant.

And I reiterate, have ya had a Idea of your own lately ? (for some reason I doubt it)  :t
Oh PS when ya start your opposition off by calling someones idea a whine then yes I and anyone else in their right mind would see that as being negative.

I'm sure I'm not.  I did post it as my idea though and I stand by it (Copyright surfinn). Heck anyone who has to commonly mute a player due to their spamming should understand what I'm requesting.
