Headset Recommendation
« on: September 06, 2012, 03:13:52 PM »
Anyone know a decent headset for under $150? Preferably under $100? Used for mostly gaming and music. I don't have a dedicated sound card, just an onboard Realtek. It'd also be neat if it had a detachable mic so I can listen to my iPod as well.  :)

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I agree, I have one of these and its pretty awesome - however they did CANCEL the good pair... replaced it with cheaper less good version.

Its still not bad, best pair I ever had for headphones.

Hmm, seems low priced for a good headset. Usually, I get what I pay for. I'm hoping this is one of the exceptions?

Heil Proset Media was designed to be used by the Navy. The cord is much tougher than typical consumer brands and the mic is a higher quality dynamic cardioid. On their site Heil has it listed for $121 but you can shop around.

If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

the G35 is OK but it's USB, it's a sound card plus a headset in one and is quite heavy. The fake 7.1 is useless and it actually gives me headaches.

That said the microphone, speakers and build are of very high quality. The music sounds awesome in it, no sign of weariness after 2 years, still feels brand new, and I've had no drivers issue with it. Its also quite comfortable despite its weight.

Cool, good to know.  :aok I don't have a dedicated sound card on my PC anyways so I think I'll be fine. I rarely put the headset on for most games, I just leave it around my neck. Battlefield BC2 and 3, Arma 2 and music though is another thing.  :)

Though it looks like I have to get a USB to3.5 for my iPod though.

?? USB to Jack 3.5mm converter is called a sound card in my book!

EDIT: I see now, you want to plug the USB headset into the ipod. That won't happen, this headset needs a computer to work.

One option: http://tbreak.com/tech/2012/09/asus-vulcan-pro-gaming-headphones-review/

If you haven't tried active noise cancellation before give it a try at some shop - it's amazing. Basically any humming fans etc. disappear like magic when you put the headphones on. I tried it first time (Bose quietcomfort 3) in a busy airport in Munich and it was a real surprise. Like stepping into an empty room and closing a heavy door behind you.
