You can't avoid the cv ack if you can't see the CV.

Maybe make it visible once puffy ack engages your plane or something?

If your seeing the ack you KNOW there is a cv nearby you dont have to see it  to know the flack is coming from somewhere. if you turn `180 you are pretty much guaranteed to be flying away from it

Why is the low-altitude of puffy set to 3k ?
Gameplay or realism ?

I agree - turn it down. Flight time for a shell cannot be as quick as it is in the game. If it is it is flying faster than the sabot rounds I flung from my M1A2 tank! I can adjust my heading by 15 - 45 degrees and altitude by 3,000 feet and still get hit and taken out. That is allot of maneuvering! If I am doing more than that I am no longer traveling in the same direction. Ack is like having a SA-2 chasing you down, and the amount of first shot kills is pretty high.

The randomness of the puffy ack will rarely seem random.  It will oscillate between kill you everytime and never kill you.  GIve it a week or two and you'll see your luck change for a while.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Field ack is the same for me.  Sometimes I could almost deack an entire base and never get a ping.  Other nights, first pass, cockpit shot, boom!

It's almost as if the setting change just a little bit once in a while.

I think it has 2 causes.

1.  Distribution of random numbers leads to clusters and not an even distribution.

2.  Computers are incapable of generating true randomness.
