My opinion is simple

All essential services should be free (within reason) to a taxpaying citizen. Taxes go to defense, healthcare, water, electricity etc etc.

If one does not pay their taxes, due to unemployment, unemployment agencies will FIND people a job, and tell them "go to it". If they refuse to work...and hence don't pay tax... they receive no support of any kind from the government.

^^

A capitalist society with a social conscience. A government which gets out what it puts in. And can turn a profit by the hard work of its citizens. Citizens are entitled to what they get out... because they are one of many who put into it... those who don't put in.... don't get paid out... simple.

A nation where someone is free to say, do and think as they wish, conduct business and work without fear of repression or subjugation.

America was founded on the basis of freedom, we all know the saying freedom isn't free, well I think people should take that more to heart than they do.

And realistically... foodstamps are not some sort of gravy train, I'm really not sure where people get this idea.
Ok lets put this int perspective, several of my inlaws are on the gravy train, neither work dont want to dont have to so here is the scoop.  breakdown of their (our taxes)
1.)750 a month rent-the company I work for paid it, I know this because I was the manager at the apt
2.)600 a month in foodstamps, I know this because she used to go shopping with my wife
3.)500 a month in "reachup" cash money for toiletries and whatnot
4.)100 a month for lights, if they ran short on cash(reachup) the company I work for would pay their light bill this happened frequently
5.)100 a monthfuel assitance, even though they had heat included in rent they could get money(cash) that was supposed to go towards their lights
and this for a grand total of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2050!!! per month!!!!!!!!
now what do you bring home a month?????? for going to work everyday, busting your arse.  and they get to stay home with their kids, go fishin, hunting, snowmobiling, playing facebook, or whatever.  I see this sort of thing everyday just about.  so thats how I come to the conclusion that this is the gravy train.  and thats all out of our paychecks, not theirs.  I am not saying that people dont need help, it does happen but, people have made careers out of welfare.  I have no problem if someone needs a hand thats what its there for, but all the people like my inlaws make it so if someone that works needs it they cant get it, trust me I know this FIRST hand.  Oh yeah and most of the clients I see smoke a pack of marbs a day

you're realistically stealing what, six or seven thousand dollars a year, that you can only spend on food. Yeah, to a lot of people that's a lot of money, but if you want to talk about stealing from the government (or even stealing out of an individual's pocket), there are people who do probably many times more than that on a daily basis
yeah but now multiply that by say 300000 people stealing money on the lowside, about 60% of the probably 250 homes I work in steal money(lie to get assistance)

I honestly am a proponent of ancient democracy.

Citizenship should be granted only to those who contribute to the nation. Tax Payers are Citizens. In times of war or national emergency, every citizen must be ready to take up arms in defense of the nation, or assist in any way possible in regards to the crisis.

All citizens, influential or not, MUST, and I cannot stress this enough, MUST, have a say in how things are proceeding. The popular vote should be precisely that. Populares Sufferage, in short, if we want a President (PM for Australia and GBR). It shouldn't be seats, or electorates or anything. It should be Seats in the house, representing the people of a respective district, who are voted by 51% OR HIGHER majority into their office. This ripples up through a party system into TWO CANDIDATES for a presidency\ PMship who won that position BECAUSE MORE THAN HALF, of the peoples registered voters (WHICH AS A CITIZEN YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BE!!!!!!) have stated support.

Citizenship - "the state of being vested with the rights, privileges, and duties of a citizen."

A little under 7.4 billion dollars.
For example, the famous Madoff ponzi scheme robbed investors of 18 billion dollars by court estimates.

I was unemployed for 3 years. I survived on my retirement and unemployment with the aid of a couple of pensions, very small pensions. When I finally found a job I had to borrow $15 for gas to get to work. I was broke, beyond broke. Wiped out my life savings and ran my credit cards to the max. I didn't waste time feeling sorry for myself. I knew being in my 50s it was a tough sell and then I was way overweight. I lost a bunch of weigh (need to lose more) and studied and passed the CPA exam. I knew I had some value and hung on to that belief.

Finally I got a job at Walmart. Worked there for 3 months and then found the job I've always wanted in a solid industry. That was almost 9 months ago. Since then I've paid down my credit cards by over $4,000 dollars and increased the payments on my house. I've also purchased a new TV (old one was stolen) and built a new computer. LOL. I guess the important stuff first. This past week I spent $500 fixing up the Jeep and prior to that a couple of new tires. Altogether that's about $800 and all paid for in cash. Didn't touch a nickle of debt.

I never thanked the Government for anything. This was their mess. I went to school so I would never be unemployed. So much for that thought.

My advice to anyone unemployed is take what you can get. You don't want 3 years of no work history.

What happens when there are literally not enough jobs to support the entire workforce?

but how are you going to do that?

force the corporations to make LESS money for the shareholders that they bend over backwards for, by forbidding them to outsource to the cheapest possible bidder? that's not going to happen, those big corporations own the government through donated $$$  etc

the current US administration made one of the only attempts to keep jobs in the hands of US citizens in recent memory, by bailing out the auto companies, but they don't seem to have got any credit for it - quite the opposite in fact

so true now we hire illegals to do the work Americans USED to do for say 18 an hour and illegals do it for 6 and hour, all out industry jobs get sent over seas because its cheaper then we buy it back from there for double what we would have paid for it to begin with.  Homegrown labor?? whats that, seems like noone wants to get their hands dirty anymore.

most people who are so quick to look down on those on welfare are pretty careful to document those "business dinners" so they can deduct them on their taxes.  most of us are on welfare one way or another.  that is what deductions are.

That's about where we are at now but it's the fault of those not willing to work or demanding wages above their experience.  The jobs are out there but the American Ego is larger than the salary.

Lately I've been watching the people in front of me in grocery checkout lines buying things I can't afford on food stamps and loading up the back of their expensive SUV's (usually Lexus or Beemer).  That drives me nuts!

I tell you what I would do.

I would make it ILLEGAL..... for an Non American company to own American Land.

I would make it ILLEGAL..... to hire any migrant without a LEGITIMATE workers VISA.

All foreign companies wishing to buy and sell in the USA will have to LEASE land, and pay rates on said land, DIRECTLY to the owner of said land, if that land is not owned by an individual and is in fact owned by the state. The money will go DIRECTLY to the US Government.

Importing of workers without VISA... ILLEGAL.

etc..

Wth kinda program do you have going on over there?  :bolt:
Thank God I finally found a job that doesn't involve any heavy lifting (back issues courtesy of Uncle Sam) this past week. Will be nice to not need stamps.

lol, that's cute
Before a law like that even got to the table, every foreign company that for some whatever reason needed to own American land would have a holding company or a subsidiary or something like that in New Jersey.

This is pretty cute too, I'm fairly sure you need more paperwork than a visa to work legally in the United States already (more like a working permit/green card).

It already is... I'm not really sure you understand what a visa is anyway...
