The way fuel is loaded, with few exceptions such as the rear tank in the P-51, has far, far more effect in people's minds than it actually has on the handling of the aircraft in the game.  It is a greatly exaggerated explanation/excuse for why somebody won or lost.

Nope.  People claim it is, but that is false.

I think the difference of 400 lbs between 3/4 and 1/2 and again at 1/4 fuel makes a pretty big difference in the pony Karnak.

In this case I think you have it backwards by discounting the advantage you took into combat you will 'feel' like a better stick than you are.

That isn't what is being talked about here though.  They are talking about how the fuel is loaded into the tanks.  The Pony is one of the few that have a tank where it does matter, namely the rear tank having more than 50% full introduces significant instability to the Pony.

Nobody is talking about the sheer weight differences of taking 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% fuel.  The Mossie VI I like to fly is carrying about 3500lbs of fuel if you take 100% fuel, so of course selecting 50% has a noticeable effect.  However which tanks that 50% is loaded into and in what ratios makes almost no difference at all.

Nope.  It should accelerate into a roll slightly faster, but that is all.

Think about it.  How would that help it turn?  The weight doesn't change and the wing tanks are near the center of gravity.

Its not that I dont disagree with you . . . hehe . . . but how you could tell what this fellow was meaning in his contribution I cant tell. And so I had to clear up what I took away from what you meant.

Absolutely nothing wrong with fuel burn we have now. If you can't manage to fly with 50% gas anyway, what difference will it make switching which tanks get the gas? Absolutely nothing.

Honestly I used to drain "rear" tank of a 190A would make a big difference, or Top or Bottom of tanks in Spitfire, in reality you arn't gaining anything from it - people assume they do because they have some spotted luck with it.
Fast forward 6 years later - I haven't messed with draining my tanks period, only in certain aircraft like the F4u - only because the main tank seems to always get hit, so I leave a little gas in my wings so I can make it home in case I get hit.

That F4U LOVES to draw bullets to it's main tank.  Like there is a bullet magnet...
