Not very likely.  Bob obviously loved airplanes, in particular the Corsairs.  Why would he want to be remembered for dying in the airplane he loved?  It's bad PR for the airplane and bad PR for him.

Depends,  Getting killed racing one of my vettes, would be one of the ways I would rather go.  Far better then some sort of disease, or traffic accident. At least I went out doing something I enjoyed.  I don't consider it bad PR for either him or the plane.  If you race enough you'll break something, no matter how carefull or good you are. Racing or stunt flying is pushing the limits.  If you're lucky nothing really bad happens when it goes bad, unlucky, then something like this happens.
