English hate hunters?
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:21:27 PM »
I was reading an article on a UK news site about a guy who got his hand shot off while hunting.  I was astonished that it seems socially acceptable there to call for hunters to be murdered / terrorized.  Is it really like that or was I just seeing something out of the ordinary?  I commented about the lack of sympathy for the guy and a day later it has the most negative feedback of any comment on the article.

It all looked like hate speech to me.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

It's only hate speech when it does not agree with the usual liberal slant.......... :bolt:  :neener:

Like anywhere it depends on the type of site you go to, try going to a PETA site and
looking for hunter sympathy. You say a news site but which one?

that reminds me of back in 92 when I had just moved to north carolina,  a woman got shot in her backyard during the fall or winter by a hunter.  the explanation for her being shot was that she was wearing white gloves and she should have known better since it could be confused with a white tailed deer, that's what the hunter thought anyway.

Actually it is the hunter's duty to identify the target. Now anyone out can assist by wearing orange..... it is still up to the hunter.

There is  somehting Quintessentially wrong with your culture when such behavour is ok or even expected.( I don't mean this in a nationalistic sense)

This is probably due to the fact that hunting was always the preserve of landed gentry, and to a great degree it still is. Also there is a distinct air of abhorrence about hunting for the sake of killing. We are supposedly a nation of 'animal lovers' (although my best mate is an RSPCA Inspector and may disagree)
I have no issue with hunting for food, fishing for food, etc, Its doing it for fun that I, and many otthers dont understand. I have 'hunted' for food: rabbits, pheasant. I have to kill baby Jackdaws and injured pigeons on a daily basis. I have shot a deer that was injured by a car and a dog that was terminally ill. I hated and detested every single one. The deer was eaten, although I didn't scoff the dog or the Jackdaws

I knew a farmer who was a miserable old sod, he shot some birds and decided to finish one off by hitting it over the neck with his gun, the gun went off and cut him in two. :old:

Hi Coombzy you calmed down yet? :)
