I was waiting for that old lump of crap. This is the nerveless lip that detects the difference between a scrap of food and a scrap of excrement at the bottom of a  pond. Same old fishermans gem. I have also heard people say fish mouths are 'designed' to be hooked.

This is tedious now

I would say perfectly designed but I've had to many get away.

Thats the thing I don't fathom. Why go specifically to catch fish, just to weigh them and let them go?. Kill it and scoff it is fine by me. But why torture it and then put it back?

I see your point and infact agree to a point, but what if the regs state catch and release only!

One of the rivers I fish often has only a small section that you can catch and keep the fish. Most of the river has regulations for catch and release, not live bait and a single hook with no lead allowed.

This past summer was so warm and the water levels were so low that I refused to fish the river as the likelyhood of the released fish to survive was just too low for my liking. Since I cant keep any of the fish I wouldnt risk killing them just for fun!

Oh and if you think it's easy to fool a fish with a brain the size of a lentil, well come try this river and see how well you do! If you dont have the exact copy of the hatch you can watch the fish swirl around you and laugh as you try to fool them!
