Setting Views - Page Up / Page Down & arrow keys are locked up
« on: October 03, 2012, 07:02:25 PM »
Just upgraded from the X52 to the X52 Pro.

While setting my views back up, My page up and page down buttons as well as the fine tun zoom arrow keys are seemingly locked up.

When I try the page up / page down bottons, I can tell that they are trying to work but are not working...

Anyone know how to unlock so I can start the long process of resetting all my views again?

I got into a few fights and am losing the eye on the prize.

Please help!!!!!

Check your clutch button on your new stick.
It sounds like your pc is getting too many key commands.

Coogan,

TY so much for the quick reply!  Sorry for my ignorance...   What is the "clutch" button?  I am not familiar with that term.

That would be near you right thumb.  If the clutch is enabled,   that light will be blinking rapidly.  I believe it needs to be disabled using the Saitek software. (could be wrong.)
After that, you can map that key to whatever you wish.
I had a similar problem.  Had to use Saitek's software to clue me in that a key was being pressed repeatedly.  Which turned out to be the clutch button.

I am showing a button (when in options to map my stick in game) that indicates Button 27 is lit in green when all others are black.  I recall during calibration a button 27 as also being lit in Windows.  So you are recommending popping in the disk for the hardware and deactivate that button?

I am giving it a try now and will report back in here in the event others have this issue in the near future.

Thanks again for advising me!

You are right on.  It was the clutch button.

By deactivating it, a new problem presented itself.

Do you use that clutch button for anything?

I used to use it for looking up so while in a fight, I could be looking up and panning around.  By deactivating the clutch feature, I cannot look up using that button.

I tried to map it again in game and is not letting me.  When I press the clutch button, while holding it down, I cannot look around.

New problem to solve!  LOL

Thanks though, I am on the right path.

Leave the properties tab open on your desktop while you play AH and every button will work.

And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

There's an option to disable the clutch function.  It doesn't disable the button itself.  Once disabled, you should be able to map that button as you wish, even assigning it a second function, providing you've mapped one, using the pinky shift feature.

What is weird is that the button is disabled (through properties).  For some reason, when I push it, it still acts as a clutch.

The one function (enabling it) is to push it once, and the clutch remains engaged until you push it again to disengage it.

The other only way is to disable it.  Which I have.  However, when you push the button, it engages the clutch, only as you hold the button.

There must be another way to disable this function to basically eliminate the option for the clutch all together.  Right???

You're right.  That option is found in the Saitek control panel.  I can go into more detail in a few, just have to get ob the puter.  I'm trying to type on this phone
little buttons and all...  :frown:

I figured it out.

Yes, the clutch must be disengaged.  But I also found the following to be true...

Cannot use the slider for zoom in/out function.  That is what locked up everything else for some weird reason.

Also, even though I JUST bought the X52 Pro, it was packaged in 2009 (software was).  During installation, I thought I selected the option for update drivers, however, you have to MANUALLY go to Saitek's site to update the drivers.  Gives you a whole new looking screen in properties.

If you haven't updated drivers in a while, I highly recommend doing so.

I am up and running.  Thanks again for all the help guys!
