the big block will do over 170 mph.......the V6 will do 155....sorry cap, but that is anything but slow.....
it does not matter if it is the "fastest" (although the Challenger has a better top end then the mustang in the same class) it has more style and class than all the retro's put together....it is the King of modern muscle just like the Cuda's and Challengers of yesteryear.
when I took the new one out the dealer says to me...."ya they are great at going straight...they were made for drag racing"
a big idiot who does not know anything about the Challengers.....
the first Challengers came out in 1970 they were called the T/A Challengers that stands for Trans Am racing...a road racing circuit....same with the Cuda's......... AAR Cuda....All American Racing.........they were not made for the 1/4 mile they were designed for road racing..back then if a company wanted to put a car on the track they also had to put it on the street(cant remember what it was called)........my Challenger with its disk brakes in front and drums in the back.....weighed 3650 lbs and handled awesome on the back roads nothing ever beat me on the back roads...nothing even came close....these new ones with huge dick brakes front and back are even better....they handle awesomely for a car that is over 4000 lbs.
edit
Silver that panther pink Challenger is sweet, I would own one in that color
it was called homologation. and it should be still in the rules.
sounds like your salesman wasn't very up on his stuff. when i test drove the mustang i didn't end up buying, i flogged that car. hard. the guy was telling me about mustangs, and how poorly they handled in the past while i was doing it. so i took it on a back twistie road i'm familiar with, and know what i was able to squeeze out of my old fox body mustang. and i proceeded to flog that car more. it was like a slot car. worlds better than my fox body....but i already knew that. he got quiet for a moment, but never reached for a "jesus handle" or did the passenger foot braking thing.
if i'm not mistaken(and i could well be) the gt is limited to 155mph. suspect the six banger is limited the same.
now, after all of that wall o text.......i suspect you think i'm dissing the challenger. i am not. or at least not intending to. i like the thing, and as previously said, i wouldn't hesitate to own one......if i could afford it without giving up my gt. i also think ge's gonna be happy with his,,,,,,won't be as fast as his vette was, but i'll be willing to bet he'll be wondering why he didn't do this sooner.
now stop taking me so darn seriously!! or do i have to use excessive smiley thingies?
