I sat in and started a 440 superbird  :O (he didn't know me well enough to let me drive it)

what a sick car, chances are it will be very difficult to find one that needs resto...you could always do a clone with the roadrunner.....

but nothing beats a 71 Hemi Cuda

I had the pleasure of restoring my Torino with my father(1st time i ever had a 3/4 inch wrench thrown at my head) it took 4 years but it was worth it!

  Maybe so but he built a sweet Hudson! :aok   I always loved those hudsons,used to ride in a hornet fairly regularly back in the early 60's.

One of the neatest '91 stangs I saw was a "stock" GT, all white except for red detail highlights.  It had the overall effect of something out of star wars but was pretty much completely stock except for the little detail work.  I think an LX with the trunk would be a far better sleeper though, and less wind noise and body flex without the hatchback on the GT.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Sadly, they only made 11 1971 hemi cudas.

Something a bit more attainable is the AAR cuda.

In 1964 Dodge and Plymouth made 100 of these each.  They were made to do one thing......Drag Race.

Previous to 1964 they did have the 426 but it was the Max Wedge.  In 1964 it was the 426 race and street Hemi.

I give you the baddest Boy on the block.....the lightweight!
You'll notice only one windshield wiper,no radio, heater etc.  One badazz quarter miler.  They rooled!
Some went so far as to acid dip the chassis and body to shed weight.

I've owned hypo MOPARS since the mid 60s'.....65Fury IIIs (383 335hp 4speed, 69 roadrunner 383 also, and a 70 Coronet with a 440)
Nutin' could touch a 440 for low end grunt...even a Hemi.  Hemis were difficult, they'd flood etc. and be a pain in the arse unless ya
had a great crew to keep'em happy, and MOPAR did.  Race Hemis came with dual quads on a crossram intake.  Streeters came with dual
quads also but with a conventional dual quad intake.  Unless you were licensed and sponsored you couldn't purchase a race Hemi.

I'm thinkin' "Color me Gone" painted on the side of this bad boy in the picture. (You Old MOPAR guys will remember that name) :rock
This would be my dream project.

Yassir the '70's Hemi Cuda's were beautiful cars.

The '67-69 Barracuda's just look more 'animal' ..not as refined..
..a bit on the raw side :)
And the Super Stock '68's were scary fast to boot..
..right up there with the COPO L-88 Camaro's an such.

They came with all the lightweight 'features' .. lexan windows that used a strap to pull them up..
..an such.. similar to the early factory hot rods.

I don't remember the exact numbers..15 71 Hemi cuda ragtops were made....11 is wrong I believe.....

this is for the ragtop....I used to know all the numbers but its been years and I don't remember the numbers :(

Hey Hajo, do not forget the stamped sheet metal bumpers on those old factory race Dodges and Plymouths.  You could sneeze on them and dent them.  :)

Hey Skuzzy!   Was that trans the 888?  I can't seem to remember and I'm to old and lazy to get up and look!

I know that auto was the 727...but for the life of me can't remember the 4 speeds number.

(I still own a MOPAR with a nice note, 2010 Challenger R/T with a bit of work added  ;))

It has a tremec  6 speed.  Believe it's a 6060.

My Challenger had the 340 with the 727 slap stick shifter......would love to get another, one day so I guess that would be my answer to the OP

the day I brought it home


crashed it looking for my missing daughter (The only time I crashed it)


met a MOPAR guy he did the work on the front end.....he charged me 500$....... :O




 this was taken at chryslers at carlisle...you can see mine in the background


it was unbreakable......wasn't the absolutely fastest off the line, it had I think 289 gears in it......but it would do 150 all day long....

nothing have I seen could take what that 340/727 combo could deal with, when I say I put it to the test....you can be sure that is exactly what I did with it.....

man I wish I knew then what I know now.

yup....how ya think I feel.....sold it to a family member for 1k.....he was not supposed to get rid of it....ya 3 months later he sold it.....needless to say 14 years later I still haven't talked to said family member :mad:
