This generation has been coddled so much they have no idea what true bullying is.  What used to be a "go out back and settle your differences" has turned into an arrest able offence.

Fud is correct.  Your post is about as asinine as I've read, also.  Both of them.

We're truly fu..ed.

You defend yourself in a school, you get suspended. Regardless of whatever evidence of bullying you might have. That's enough to put on your transcript and pretty much F up your college applications. I agree, public schools are stupid.

Yep

I got a charge sheet (I was under 18 so I didn't get a criminal record) for assault for "settling my differences"

and suspended for 1 week from classes, which caused me to fail a subject.

Plaw, There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you said. The truth hurts. It's not like you are making it up. I don't know id fud and dun are in denial or what? I don't see how what you wrote is in any way asinine.

My heart goes out to these poor families. I was playing with my 2 (almost 3) year old son tonight and I actually broke into tears knowing there are 18 families that will never get to do the same thing with their children again. I just cant imagine if someone called me at work to tell me my son had been murdered.  Nothing will ever help these families recover.

Easy gents, easy gents.

I don't think Plawranc meant any harm.  If I'm interpreting him right he's just pointing out that it's impossible to even guess what the motive might be for some random person to shoot a random five year old.  I don't think he's calling Columbine or anything else "understandable" in the "forgivable" or "reasonable" or "justified" sense at all, I think he's just pointing out that it's easier to find a motive when it's teen vs. teen than when it's teen vs. pre-schooler.

I'm sure he meant no harm.

Back on topic...  I have grown up with all these shootings but it feels very different to have it happen in my own state.  It reminds me of a quote from Calvin and Hobbes: "A man's house should be his castle, but it shouldn't have to be his fortress."

This was a terrible day.

That might have been the most asinine thing I have ever read on an internet forum. Never have I have seen anyone think a school shooting would be understandable.
This might be the most idiotic reply to anything ever said.

He said he understood WHY someone would do it. Not that he understands that they happen. Being bullied and picked on can lead to some nasty things in high school. Last week some kid finally had enough and beat the living crap out of some kid after he pushed him too far. The guy who was picking on him had a broken nose and lost a good amount of blood in the first 5 minutes. It took 7 teachers to pry the kid off of the bully.

Now back to the shooting - If you're killing children at the age of and around 6, you really have some issues. There shouldn't be any motive to do such a thing. That's just beyond me.

You defend yourself in a school, you get suspended. Regardless of whatever evidence of bullying you might have. That's enough to put on your transcript and pretty much F up your college applications. I agree, public schools are stupid.

If you ask me, that is just a BS rule in schools. Even if you're defending yourself against a cracked out meth junkie in the halls you're still gonna get slapped with a disorderly conduct ticket and possibly an O.S.S.

Only hour away from hometown and hour away from where I am currently going for medical school.  Radiates fast especially on Facebook the emotions from the event.  Know many friends from undergraduate who grew up and live in the town and went to that very school growing up and actually live only a couple streets from the elementary school.

While I am not stirring the pot by any means, after reading a update on the story it sounds very fishy.  The mom bought her son the guns.  The mom was found dead at her son's place where she should have been at work at that school where she taught kindergarten.  The shooter was buzzed in by the security guard.  Most visitors have to check in before going anywhere in school especially during school hours.  How the security didnt see the shooter wearing a bullet proof vest and strapped with guns is very strange.  While can hide the guns, a bullet proof vest cant 100% be concealable can it?  The shooter than went to the kindergarten class where his mom taught and began the shooting.  After reading the update it just sounds very strange in my head.

Front doors aren't locked.  Sounds like it started in the office. I don't imagine they had someone watching the door.   The mom was a substitute teacher so wouldn't always been at the school.  I know my son had guns in my name as he wasn't old enough to buy them but I did for him, etc.

Too much we don't know

This is from CNN.  http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/14/us/connecticut-school-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

"Hochsprung, the slain principal, had recently installed a new security system to ensure student safety.

Under the new system, every visitor was required to ring a doorbell at the front entrance after the doors locked at 9:30 a.m. and report to the main office to sign in."

Beating the crap out of a bully is totally different than shooting up a school. I have no words how you can possibly find any reason in what some sick SOB would even think of shooting up a school.

Innocent people died, innocent teachers died, and your finding reason in what they did? How dare you sir, go tell that to the families of their children that were shot.

I can only see one motive when a kid shoots up a school, and that they're a mentally sick POS. If you have a bully, you settle it one on one, but if you take innocent lives, your worse than the bully.

When did I say that the guy killing children and teachers was acceptable?

And more importantly, why do you still not understand a single thing being said? I was simply agreeing with Plawranc. In high school some bad things can happen due to bullying, but killing children isn't like that. Grown men don't normally go around killing children because they picked on him. Its more likely to be a psychological problem.

All I can say is, I am heartbroken at the loss of 27 innocent lives, and the worst part is 20 of them were children. Albeit they all were innocent but to have 20 children killed is pure heartbreak.

My  :pray go out to the family's of all lost.

:pray go out to the 1st responders for having to see the innocence lost.

Give the families the strength to get through this tragedy and make a day of tragedy less painful as the days go on.
