:airplane: My whole point to the "wish" is that some of the guys are busy doing other things and never notice the text buffer notice of a mission posted! I am not and do not wish for a "horde" as my missions are usually based on precision attacks, with goal of limiting loss to my bombers. While I know that this is just a "game", as the operations officer for the Devil Dogs, it is my responsibility to plan a mission with as few a "friend" losses as possible. Sometimes I think a lot of players in the AH game forget that it is based on events which occurred during WW2, so why not try to play the part or parts of pilots and officers during that time period? I even go to the trouble of researching missions, which are based on actual events which occurred in WW2, even to the point of adding "special effects" when possible, such as Morse code instructions from wing headquarters and etc.
I just think it would add to everyone's benefit to know that a mission is posted and joining is an option!

what I bolded in red is ABSOLUTELY WRONG....the only thing the MA has to do with WW2 is we play with the tools they used....we do NOT replay ww2 in any way shape or form....in the MA that is......FSO and such as that are the times that we try to reenact parts of the "war"

many who try to make it all about the "war" or compare it to the "war".......does not make it so.

The pickup mission option in the clipboard can be augmented with a light or text color change which goes on when 1 to the Max number of missions in queue are available in the queue to be joined.

Just like the new option for the compass that shows up on the map can be turned off in the environment setup. A similare option to display the mission available light can be introduced.

fair enough.  :aok

Who here is gonna tell Hitech he cannot pay his mortgage because you are personaly offended by a purpose designed social feature of his game that is very popular with the "less talented" and "few years in grade paying subscribers" to our little fantasy world??

Or is AH some weird social theocracy run by the self anoited protectors of the one true way to play this game?

Sheesh I didn't know it was as simple as land a few kills, drop a few bombs, and Hitech has to ask your permission to run his business while you guys consult your holy book of the One True Game. Where do you sign up for that gravey train?? Do you wear special robes and have secret handshakes and ominous initiation rites? I bet 2 scoobie snacks Fugi is the current pontif and exalted keeper of the only way to play.

this is the excess.   :huh

I actually missed all this. In Bustr's post as in many other peoples post if you don't get to a "point" some place in the beginning of that post I move on. kvuo75 quoting is what caught my eye.

As to the "one true way to play the game", are you saying there isn't? I always thought the one true way to play is to have fun! <--- see point made in second sentence. I pay my $15 a month to have fun fighting in my cartoon airplane, why shouldn't I be able to point out when that fun is taken away by the ridiculous odds presented by a horde? or the inability of catching up to the "hit and run" NOEs?

The reason I post is in the hopes someone comes up with a way to counter these styles of play. I'm sure HTC gets a lot of ideas from the boards. I don't have a problem with the way anyone plays as I have most likely played that way myself many times. I'm just looking for options and sometimes suggesting them as well. I'm not telling anyone how to play.

:airplane: Guess you havn't caught on yet! Like it or not, this is a "pretend" game, so why not pretend? Most of us play for the "fun" of it and what is wrong with trying to re-enact a few missions flown in WW2??

like I said....just because you want the MA to be a reenactment of the WAR..... it is not.....since when did 51's go against 51's?

please enlighten me oh wise one..........

the MA is one thing only....a giant sandbox using WW2 equipment.....for COMBAT.

Good Lord how many sects of this religion are there??

One Right and Only True Way
One True Way to Emulate the Past and have Fun
The Only Way to Play and not be a Sissy

I still don't get how this constitutes an ecumenical rift for game play. New people mixing with old people blowing up things together forging new freindships around a common entertainment. At least no one is handing out doomsday booklets or banging on tamboriens and singing hairy fish crackers. Though it's hard not to miss the sectarianism dripping from the responses.

Hitech,

"If" it is a good idea from your perspecitve. Is it possible to place a "light" next to or cause a text color change of the "Pickup Misson" text in the clipboard when missions are available in the queue?
