For those who live in countries that do not allow protection of life, liberty, or even property
..I wish you luck in any similar situation.
'Do no harm' is a great ideal.
Works well until some thug enters the picture with every intent of 'harm'
and in a defenseless society he gets a free ticket to do his worst.
First, I'm not offending the woman protecting her family. She did what is right where she lives.
In my country the woman would most likely have been prosecuted for exaggerated self-defence. I just took a look into Google Maps to see how far away from civilization the place were and counted thirteen houses along the street, and about ten more alongside the crossing street, situating only 6 miles from the town centre and the Police Department. My house is situated in quite a similar place, nice and quiet, yet everything within reach. In our defenseless society our women would have to call the police, who'd be there within minutes the PD being that close. They might have been instructed to flee through the back door to the neighbour's house while the burglar was working on the front. -If there were guns in the house, they'd have to be in a safe locker, unloaded and disassembled. Most likely none of them would be a revolver, since owning one requires more specific reasons than hunting.
