I am happy for her and hope she recovers from the trauma of it all.

She fired 6 rounds got 5 hits, 4 exiting. According to the article entered the neck and face but has punctured lungs, punctured liver and stomach. She needs better ammo for sure. I'd say good job and get her some good stuff to replace the 6 she used.

In my country.

She would have been arrested for attempted murder, class 1 firearm offences and sent to jail for 30 years.

if she lived there, then would she just have had to take it and risk being; raped, beaten, killed and risked the same for her kids?

like what would the government expect her to do?

Quite possibly yes.

We have no version of the Castle law here and firearms other than bolt hunting rifles (and even then you need 3 permits for those) are illegal.

would the law get her just because she used a firearm? or if lets say she used a ktichen knife or a baseball bat. would they still get her for murder, even though it was for personal defense?

Depends, if your jury is nice yes. But charges will be pressed if any harm is caused.

Unrelated, but I wanted to be sure to put this in a thread you'd see, Dago.
I found a picture of my kid smiling & holding up his bag of coins you sent him (maybe 7 years ago? 10 years ago?). He's still got those.

Thanks for the note, glad they were well invested in happiness. :aok

Good for her.  I'm glad she RIGHTFULLY defended herself, he kids, and her property.  I hope all is well with their recovery and the traumatic experience is put behind them.

It is tragic that someone had to make the choice to violate the safety of that mother and her kids, and disrespect the sanctity of someone's home.  Moreover it is tragic that his bad choice nearly cost him his life AND that he will get a slap on the wrist and sent to prison for a few years.  This kind of POS needs to be dealt a heavy hand of justice and put to hard labor for a long time.  Let the weed smokers, petty thieves, and prostitutes out of prison and jacks like this scumbag in for a long time.

People know right from wrong.  They choose to take the route they travel.  When someone does wrong why should those of us in the right suffer in any way shape or form?

It is really sad that some countries do not allow people to rightfully defend themselves.  Perhaps it has something to do with who founded the country and how the country was founded.

It's a shame the thug wasn't killed.
Definitely need better ammo in that .38 .. more grain in the casings, mebbe hollow points
..altho it sounds from the description of wounds they may have been hollow points.

She did a hell of a job.

For those who live in countries that do not allow protection of life, liberty, or even property
..I wish you luck in any similar situation.

'Do no harm' is a great ideal.
Works well until some thug enters the picture with every intent of 'harm'
and in a defenseless society he gets a free ticket to do his worst.
