Rule № 4 & Drama
« on: January 13, 2013, 04:33:38 AM »
With some of the current threads and some of the more prevalent posters activities I was actually moved to read the rules:-

"4- Flamebaiting, flaming, being abusing, being disrepectful, trolling, spamming or posting to incite or annoy is not allowed. If you cannot make a positive contribution to the thread, then just stay out of it".

Do members of this forum think this rule is applied or applied consistently and secondly do you think the rule should be applied more, or would this make the forum sterile and boring. In short, does the community enjoy 'drama'?

Drama is ok as long as it's contained in a separate thread. Quite entertaining actually. If we're talking about midway, I think "Flamebaiting" covers the subject well  :D

At first I read: Flamebaiting, flaming, being drunk... That would forbid any Finn from posting unfortunately.

Midway is / was just one instantiation of this pattern of behaviour. I just wanted a forum-user's discussion of this issue.

That definition does seem accurate and is covered by Rule № 4. See what I mean?

IMO

This community enjoys drama.........

I assume this is aimed at Midway/Who...... or at least incited/motivated by the recent Midway/Nrshida dialogue.

IMO Midway adopts the role of the ultimate sycophant and then expands the role to compare the object of his sycophancy with others.

Sycophancy itself is sufficient to enrage the character sets of many here......     of course many may be annoyed when they find they have been dragged into this game..........      and further annoyed when a persona they cannot respect makes judgement upon them.........    and annoyed further when they realise they have actually taken note of said judgement.

Of course this is all theory and his persona may be genuine and not a creation......... but if it were a creation then it is surely one created to at least annoy others.

I would venture to suggest that this community exhibits many community/mob/tribe tendancies such that if we did not have a "Midway" we would surley find another or invent one.

It is not directed at him but yes motivated by my complete and almost autistic lack of understanding about this kind of activity. I suspect this trend will likely increase and must adapt.

Please keep this discussion free from personal attack and drama everyone. I really do hope to understand the dynamic more.
