Re-adjusting
« on: January 16, 2013, 10:32:52 PM »
AH is like a whole new world with the combo of high speed Internet and a new gaming pc built by TD Computers! (Awesome pc I absolutely love it...great job on it!  :aok ) but this Internet thing is a whole new story. For 3-4 years I played on wifi that my phone would give off to play this game!  :lol the no-lag gameplay is actually hard for me to get used too!

My hours will be way high once again  :D  :t  :joystick:

was a pleasure to fight you with it Jo,

Now you don't have to flip a coin every merge and counter reversal to know if your going to get a shot.  Then ending up in the tower with your nose 90 degrees away from me  :aok

the no-lag gameplay is actually hard for me to get used too!

You're going to find two things happening... you're going to get more kills as you adjust, but more importantly, you might start dying *more* as your lag comes into a more appropriate line.

Throughout the years I've followed the "smoothing" code - I can pretty much tell when I'm fighting someone with higher lag as I'll be taking hits where I usually don't.

From my perceptions, this smoothing process has also slightly increased over the years, resulting in much less overall warping and serious lag effects at the trade off of a slightly larger window of varying connections.  For example, 7-8 years ago I did a little "lag" test where I flew behind various people at 100 yds and asked what range they were seeing me in their 6 view. (the famous ghost plane in Lushe's (?) lag demo vid).

Back then connections had a more significant impact than they do now, but the effect is and will always be present.

This "lag" issue becomes more critical for the "better" players because often it's about timinig, right?

Let me know how it goes - especially if you go to the DA with some people you've gone with before.

I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

The reduced lag should not affect your shot timing in any way whatsoever.

it does in snap-crossing and above/below the nose and predictive firing.   You're firing *when* you think you remember you need to, and now that timing changed somewhat.

Same as when I said for spme players who I've confirmed having above normal lag would get shots that I would normally evade from players who have a more similar connex to mine.  It's not like it's "WTF, how he hit me?!?" but at times it like, "ahhh, this guy has some lag I need to account for and fly slightly more "ahead"  or rather beware he's going to be shooting further out of "apparent"  guns soultions than others might.

As primarily a buff hunter and ambusher, no, you wouldn;t see much difference or have to make adjustments as much as someone who flies closer to the edges and is more involved on the twisty-turny side where timing *is* of essential importance.

The timing didn't change at all.

Becasue you are still firing at the representation of the enemy plane on your FE ('screen'). The gunfire timing would only change if it was important how things look on the other FE, but it doesn't.
So you still pull the trigger at the very same moment you see the enemy plane in this or that correct position.

It has an (rather big) impact on defensive maneuver timing, as in this case it really does matter how things are on the other FE as well, i.e: has my enemy a shot on me or not? This indeed is very notable in knifefights, especially with lots of scissoring.

But the pure gunfire timing nas such is not affected.

This can be rather irritating. Just a couple of days ago I had a knife fight with snailman that I filmed. The film showed that I manouvered safely out of gun solution above him but he shot behind me killing the pilot with first hit. How do you fight against an enemy that flies in your past? You need to move pre-emptively away from guns solutions.
