another way to check field status
« on: January 30, 2013, 01:39:20 PM »
Typing in "FH12345678" or whatever it is to check individual field objects seems overly complicated.

What if these three existing tools were combined into a single new aid to determine both individual objects and the entire field - all at the same time?

Use the existing clipboard field maps with the green/red status that field guns are viewed with.  Then roll that whole thingy into the "Check #field status" thingy and we would have a much easier to use object/field checker status thingy.   :aok

It could look something like this:

You would still have to type in the object # to determine downtime, but this improved status would get used more.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Maybe if it's possible, mouseover (or click) an object on the clipboard map to see the downtime.

Wasn't sure if that was doable.  But being that you can already click on any field on the map, I guess it could work that way.  :aok

Ya know, I already think there is too much information available to opposing teams.  Being able to pin point *EXACT* guns, etc, is a way over the line, imo.  They didn't have daily and hourly satellite imagery available in WWII.   ;)

I think being able to see the *current* macro information is enough.

So, not that it matters to HTC, but I vote NO!   :aok

How about flying over the target and doing BDA?  Game is already too easy.

Have to agree that a little fog of war is a good thing.   Having a complete, total and instant damage assessment of every object on an enemy base is just too gamey for me.

Agreed!

I'd rather the DT command (or better yet what the OP suggested) be useable only on friendly fields. :aok

I agree. Part of any operation over enemy territory is being prepared for contingencies.

I have never used it and never will.  not because I gotta be prepared, but because there's a zillion objects to remember.  and once I get there a quick look to the field will tell me what is down.
