Yet we fight better...with worse equipment. Means we're better fighters and use better tactics....which requires thought and planning.
Oh and the USMC REQUIRES a diploma, the Army doesn't. Being a better fighter doesn't make you less intelligent just like being spoiled with new gear doesn't make you better.

Put yourself in the guys shoes. If you had multiple men stomping you and looting your stuff and having waited for 45 minutes to get help, would you feel just happy and dandy? I bet not. The victim had every reason for being upset so he should have been treated as a victim, not as a criminal that didn't obey orders and/or respect the officers. I'm sure this guy has a huge confidence in the government now, after being first beat up by robbers only to get punched in the face and strangled by the cops who didn't make a step towards arresting them. It's like them saying 'see? this is rule of the fittest now crawl punk!'. The next thing he's going to do is get a weapon to 'become fitter' and murder rates jump one notch.
*As a member of the United States armed forces you are EXPECTED to have (what someone mentioned earlier) military bearing. Look it up.
You are EXPECTED to handle situations better than your average civilian. It doesn't matter how unhappy you are.... Oh and if I had beaten up more than one guy, stopped them from taking my stuff and had them locked in my house, I'd be beaming. Why? Because I just smoked two punks, kept my stuff, and I'd have one heck of a story to tell the platoon.

EDIT: Oh! Oh! Oh! I GOT IT! I literally just pictured you as the nerdy neighbor with the square framed glasses, the sweater, and the side comb hairdo! I'm going to have to mostly agree with this.
The kid had lost his military bearing well before he began his dialogue with the officer.
He began with an attitude, profanity and complaints. He then tried to claim that he was a soldier while posturing to look manly. Bad form.
The cop did step towards him, but he also lowered his voice as he got closer, reinforcing his claim that he got closer because he didn't want to yell.
The kid proceeded to square up on the officer and he got squeak-slapped which is exactly what he deserved. If he would have kept his military bearing and stayed where he was, the situation would have not gone any further.
As soon as the kid's attitude was diffused, the officer went right back to being polite.
Exactly. The officer stepped forward so he didn't have to speak so loudly. Not to mention all he really did was move to the front of the vehicle. Where I'm from we call that being close enough to converse in a normal manner. I'm not a fan of speaking to someone 6 arm lengths away.
Anyone who watched the video all the way through even hears it in the officer's voice. He speaks in a calm, low tone and even accepts the "soldier's" apology.
He pays taxes too, unless you forgot? The government pays him, not the public.
I saw where someone replied to this and said that the public taxes pay for him....but it's the same joke we have in the USMC. "We pay taxes on our check that comes from public taxes. We pay ourselves. The civilians just pay for our rides, weapons and ammo. They don't pay our checks.

What I'm getting from some of these people is that they are perfectly O.K. with some guy yelling at them, waving a lit cigarette in their face, and using his job as an excuse as to why they should listen to him and that's why he "deserves" special attention.
So, with that being understood I'm left with no other choice but to see how many people we have on this BBS who were bullied in high school and never said anything about it.
I am by no means a bully. I have always stood up for the little guy, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself...and I just don't see some of you being able to do that.

BTW: That is NOT base housing. That's a complex (me thinks). Civilian officer, soldier is a reservist, MP's don't take 45 minutes, civilian fire engine on scene.
