I can't say much though. My grandfather was in the Navy in WWII, cousin was an officer in the USAF, and my best friend is in the Army. Only thing I seem to be missing is a Coast Guard buddy.

(I have a friend in the NG but we don't talk much anymore).

He got punched in the face and strangled with no reason whatsoever. If cops would act in this manner in Scandinavia they would get fired in the same instant.

So...

Did you watch a different video than I did?

I saw the cop walk up and ask the guy if he was injured.  

He then asked what happened.

He then asked how many people were in the house.

The kid proceeded to wave a cigarette around and complain about how effing long it took them to get there.  I'm sure the cop went to the scene as soon as dispatch told him to go and did not stop for coffee on the way.  This is when the attitude started from the cop, as well it should have. 

Again, bad form on the kid's part.  To act like that and claim to be a soldier?  Despicable and unbecoming from anyone that is a professional.

Indeed, and there was plenty of professional conduct.   Right up to the point where the kid stepped to the guy and squared off to him saying, "know who you are speaking to" and gave the false impression that he was a fully trained (and disciplined) soldier. The kid attempted to use this to intimidate/bully the PO.  He failed miserably.

When a person steps up to another person, close enough to reach out and touch them (including being close enough to reach the cop's firearm) and says words similar to "know who you are talking to", it is an attempt at intimidation and a prelude to a potentially violent situation. The kid had a chance to step back and he didn't.

Some folks seem to think that cops are obliged to just suck up whatever abuse or threat some people decide to throw at them.  It seems that this cop was able to handle the situation without losing control of it, able to handle some egotistical hothead without having to taze him or kill him. Isn't this what those against police brutality, argue?  Living in Philly, I have seen this type of situation handled in a much less controlled fashion.

Afterwards, the cop continuously gave him the option to "start over" with a civil exchange, and honored that offer, the very second the kid accepted it.

Yeah, he did, before the COPs got there.  The COPs had nothing to do with that.  This kid postured up, got aggressive toward the officer, then the officers controlled and diffused the situation.

Watch the video again and get the facts straight vs making up inaccurate fantasies to suit your view.

In UK I would have issued a public order warning for the first incidence of swearing, and then nicked him for the second. A slap or a push are routinely used to prevent a situation escalating. It comes under the 'ways and means act' and whilst the public watching a video in the cold light of day, may draw their own inferences, the way the officer reactedis a vital and oft usedtechnique.

Did nobody even watch the second video on that page? The 'victim' is shown crying and shouting in rage about the situation in an interview. He is dressed like a teenager and appears to be wearing eye make-up also....

Obviously the incident did nothing to turn him away from being a self important beetch.
