Buying Perk Points
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:49:00 AM »
Since everything in the known world revolves around money why not give us the ability to purchase Perk Points for cash?

Nice example:

$9.99 = 5,000 Points
$14.99 = 10,000 Points
$19.99 = 20,000 Points

The completed sale would drop the purchase points into your account.
or
Generate a unique player code.  The code could be emailed to the player, then the Player enters that code into a Promo Box off the clipboard for redemption.
or
Players could sign up for a Revolving Perk Point Account which would automatically charge and deposit Points on a weekly or monthly basis just like the Subscription.

Here is the benefit:
1.  AH creates much more revenue.
2.  The Customers (Players) are upping more perk rides now that they have the Points.
3.  The game becomes more open and diverse.

Win-Win-Win situation

I'd rather not see Tempests and F4U4s everywhere.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Actually, that sounds tempting. Skilless noobs would pay for planes which wouldn't improve their ability and skilled vets would get paid for perk farming with low eny planes. Even I could make a free month or two with my 109-g6...

only problem, perk planes currently dont pay any more than say, a spit 16 or p51d. (5 eny)

You'd still get half a dozen points for every temp you'd drop with a brew... And I know there's a whole lot of players who rarely if ever take a perked ride, having tens of thousands useless points.

I foresee lots of 262s crashing everywhere...
Vets barely fly (unless they are from the Muppets) them even though they already have thousands of perk points. So who will buy perks and fly them?  :devil

Not surprised this wish is coming from a vTard.  If you want to earn perks, learn how to fly and fight.

Money is a bad idea.
I would give perk points away if I could I have more than I will ever need.

Let's just take a look at the off hand chance someone drop's $10-$20 dollar's for those point's and then begin losing those perk rides through inexperience or to someone with mad ACM skills. Now,that's real money your losing. :O  Big whine starts about how "that bleep just shot down my(insert perk ride) that I PAID for". :furious  It may be easy to just pay your way to perks but might get real expensive keeping them :devil
If pay for perks, then perk rides price goes up. Remember, your suggestion was AH creates more revenue. If perk rides cost thousand(s) points would you be so willing to up that ride time after time as it begin's to drain your account? Maybe, but most won't. I know I would:bolt:
As it is now,for only the subscription price, a player can take the time to learn and earn those points if they so choose and have fun doing it. :joystick: If you lose a perked ride only thing it costs you is 'free' point's...and maybe some pride if you take it seriously  As subscriber's i believe we get pretty good 'Bang for our Bucks'. :aok
I respect all the stick's that have even minimal ACM/GV skills in a perked/unperked ride because they learned them. :salute

This.

And if I may add.. any game that I have played that allowed for in-game currency to be purchased with real money. In the end, always lost more players than if they would've never went with the "buy your money" concept.

So along with wardog, NO.

I gotta disagree with this one.

Perks are easy to earn quickly simply by playing the game:  I came back a couple months ago with a new account after having been gone since 06.  I have around 2k fighter perks already (not sure exactly as I don't really pay attention to perks earned in a flight nor do I use perk rides very often).  GV and bomber perks are a different story.  Solely because I have very limited interest in them.  The result is I don't care about perks in those catagories.  I assume they are easy enough to earn in whatever catagory/catagories of flying you enjoy and therefore participate in with some frequency.

Flying and fighting to earn perks results in a skill increase:  Once you have flown enough to earn enough perks to be able to afford a perk ride you have at least some ability to use it effectively and keep from losing it without just running every time you see another plane within 5k of you co-alt or higher.  Less runners at he first sign of trouble is a plus to the environment in my opinion (i.e. avoiding combat vs participating in combat in an online combat game).

Free perks are better than bought perks:  If I lose a perk plane it's no big deal.  If it was my last little bit of perks I know I can easily build them back up by flying.  If I lose perks that I bought it is a BIG deal.  More ticked off players for things that happen every day ingame (getting shot down), multiple times, depending on how many sorties a player flys would probably not be a good thing.

I think some of the above has been covered in previous post already....sorry.

Sounds good at first glance....but I think the result would be more combat avoidance and way more irritation being expressed on the radio.

Don't forget to figure in Killshooter death whines, disco whines, CV Turning whines, lack of check 6 whines.. and any other way to die that somebody always blames on everybody else..

I find it hard to accept it would be worth the headaches.
