Military service

Claim "Troll" all you wish....  It's reality....  Anyone not agreeing is lying to themselves.... 
I never got anything from being in the military except wasting time and being told to hurry up and wait 90% of the time and the nice hole in my thigh as well....
My G.I. Bill covered two years of schooling and that was tuition only..  No books, no fees..  And the payment was always late..  Even had to sit out a few semesters due to late payment..
And then to come home and be called a hero for doing nothing....  Too much military worship going on these days and too many
kids with potentially brighter futures are brainwashed into wasting 4 years under the illusion they are "serving" their country in some back-water camp
on the other side of the world cleaning latrines and told to do 10 different jobs by 50 different people 100 different ways by people who've never done the jobs themselves..

By all means, live under the illusion you are doing something grand....  That's your right..  But, in reality, you aren't serving your country or protecting anything but
financial interests of people who could care less if you are blown to pieces....

Perception is everything.  Experiences is as well.  I'm sure there are people that spent their says *exactly* as you did yet told their story °180 differently that you.  I'll respect your opinion since I've not walked in your shoes, but for everyone like you there is another who stand tall and are proud of their experience.

I enjoyed my 7 years of service,  I wouldn't trade it for anything!
I do understand that there are those who didn't,  It's not for everyone,
 but someone has to do it, and I felt I was one of those people, I traveled around the world,
I met great people from all over this country and most of the free world,
 I even met many East German soldiers, we drank together, happy that we did not have to kill each other!
I was there when the Wall came down, I watched as free people won over Tyranny IMO,,,
 I saw the smiles on the faces of those  who wanted to be on our side and thanks to us,, they got that chance!

I have never nor will I ever look back my military career with any major regrets. I did the college thing before I went into the military and I chose to be enlisted because my dad was enlisted and I wanted to honor his service by doing my time like he did his. Like alot of things the military is not for everyone and sometimes you have to join to find that out, serve honorably and move on. I have no issues with any of my children going into the the military whether wartime or peacetime it is for them to decide not my wife or myself. In the end, no one has to ever justify why they do things to anyone but themselves.  I like being the 1 % that is able to do and I like the life I am able to provide my family with because of it.

I finished my first Associate degree in the USAF.. Avionics Technology, 4.0 GPA.
Ok it was almost a gimme ..I had so much related Field Training all I had to take were English, History, Child Psychology (came in far more handy than I thought it would dealing with people like ..well .. you, f'rinstance), and a couple others.

I learned more than I ever wanted to know about the exciting career of 'Electronics' (LOL)
Made some life-long friends along with meeting some people that were a total waste of space..
..learned how to work as a team, with a team, and supervise a team to get an important job done.
Learned to trust my own judgement.

'Sad Sack' attitudes like yours did not last long on the flightline.
USAF needs cooks too and I recommended that for some who were not up to the task at hand.

LOL.  I forgot to list the 522 college credit hours I got from the Army and Air Force schools I attended , while in service.

Even if the G.I. Bill isn't paying off right now, you can still get a good bit of real world EDU. While in service,, most platoon SGTs. Make sure you never miss a class,, as long as your enrolled and making an effort to better yourself

Free schooling got turned off temporarily.  Don't imagine that it'll always be there.  Wouldn't be the first nor the last time the mil has taken away benefits after people signed away several years of their life.

Do NOT join the military for the perks/benefits or free anything.  Trust me, you'll pay through the donut for whatever you get, so you need a better reason to join up than getting some free stuff.

rather a bummer but there's a
handful of reasons for joining. I'll get to travel aloft,meet slot of awesome people, lots of sweetheart bags and Im goning to this with my chest out.

Well interesting idea. But the difficult life I've had,I wouldn't mind being praised and worshiped. And I plan to be in for 20 years.  Best part tho is I turn 21 in boot 20 days before graduation

and all but telling people they have toeither be dumb is silly. Slot of jobs require intelligent individuals.
 And peeps may Norbert able to afford college. And my parents make just enough so I CANT get financial aid. I'd much rather go
to the military. My whole life I've been told I should join, and aloft of them were in the service. Bottom line, you sir have a bad attitude
