Last night's episode of Walking Dead was pretty disturbing. Look how much people have changed.

The episode last night was the one every Walking Dead fan had been waiting for.  It answered the question as to "what happened to Morgan"?  Now we know.  It will be very interesting to see how Morgan plays out in the series.  In the graphic novel he re-enters in a positive light, not so much in the series at least not yet.  We still have the prison battle to deal with and from the previews that will be starting next week.   :aok

The Walking Dead is the first series I've gotten in to since the first few seasons of Alias.  Before that it was Star Trek Next Gen back in the early 1990's (post Tasha Yar), and before that it was Magnum PI in the mid 1980's.  I'm told I need to get in to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. We'll see.  I'm typically not a TV viewer.

Yes on 1. No on 2.
Breaking Bad may be the best drama ever. Smart, funny and "whoa, didn't see that coming".

What's wrong with Game of Thrones?

Some people don't like high fantasy so GoT is not appealing. I have enjoyed GoT and plan to read the books sometime.

I'll never understand why people who don't like a particular genre of film/television would offer advice on what to watch in that genre... That's like homosexuals offering advise on what makes women look sexy.

Tried watching it when it started. Just wasn't my cup of tea.

I actually like fantasy/medieval stuff, just not GoT. Your comparison is a bit off. A lot of womens clothes is designed by gay men.

Breaking Bad is excellent. Watched seasons 1-5 in the space of a week on netflix, just could not stop..

Other people like High Fantasy in general but are disgusted by the overwhelming nastiness of GoT. I love fantasy to ESCAPE that garbage. If I wanted to watch that much selfish pettiness on TV I'd turn on C-Span.

Game of Thrones is not high fantasy.  It would fall into the low fantasy category due to the low quantity of magic and such, mainly just being a made up environment.  High fantasy is more wizards blasting at each other with spells and such.

The Lord of the Rings is a VERY low-magic world. There's no wizards blasting each other with spells whatsoever, magic is subtle or barely present at all, yet it's THE defining work of High Fantasy literature, and still the work by virtually all other High Fantasy literature is compared.

Conan the Barbarian by contrast has FAR more overt magic. Sorcerers, wizards and magic are VERY prominent (ever other villain is a sorcerer of some sort). And once again, it's pretty codified Low Fantasy.

High vs. Low fantasy has NOTHING to do with quantity of magic, but by the scale of its themes, setting and plot. This plants GoT FIRMLY in High Fantasy.
