New Headset
« on: May 02, 2013, 05:59:18 PM »
Well my Logitech G930 is about to get thrown into traffic.  Any recommendations for a good quality headset?

get one that plugs directly into your sound card and is not a usb.  they're getting harder and harder to get but it's worth the money.

what?  :huh  where did you come up with that idea? you can find non-usb headsets pretty much everywhere...they are not getting difficult to find.

Non-usb gaming headsets are harder to find already. The trend seems to be towards usb connectivity - and it's understandable considering how many problems some people have with plugging the red plug to the red port etc :)

you must be looking in the same places as Semp...the wrong ones. i've had no problems finding good non-usb gaming headsets in brick and mortar as well as online.

I went from a stereo headphone/desk mic setup to the Turtle Beach HPA2 and am now back after the HPA2's lasted less than a year.   I might consider a new headset after I build a pc later on this year.

the turtle beach stuff is great except on cruiser guns, I've had three sets, the last set has lasted me a couple of years because I've turned down the sound when firing the cruiser guns

Yeah the cruiser guns killed my first Turtle Beach headset.  When I got this one a couple of years back, I took out the cruiser gun sound and recorded myself saying "boom" in a very unenthusiastic and mild voice, and put my recording in as that sound.  So now, all I get is a mild "boom" instead of that headphone destroying bass.

Since I hadn't played in a couple of years, I was surprised by it this last squadnight and broke out laughing when I upped from a carrier.

I actually use a conference mic that sits on the table and just put regular headphones on. The sound quality is pretty awesome and I'm sitting about 1 foot away. People will hear whispers and car honks outside in the street. If you don't mind the extreme sensitivity, it's a pretty good buy.

I've had a Sennheiser USB headset for almost 5 years and still strong.  I have no problems with USB at all.
