Street Races.
« on: May 04, 2013, 07:40:06 PM »
Lately in my neighborhood there have been some street races going on. The 6 guys that normally race through here only do it at dusk/night but when they do it, its f**king loud. Two of them have fart canned Acura's and one has an Eclipse GS-T with a missing muffler. There's a '94 F-150 that sounds like a damn lawnmower on steroids and the last two are both Corolla's with stupid loud engines.

They don't cause too many problems, and they don't have any accidents (knock on wood) up to this day. The cops in this city don't really care about the street races that go on here. Everyone on this block has called the cops at least 2 times and not a single arrest has been made. We've given license plate #'s and car descriptions yet nothing is done.

This is just ridiculous. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you want to stop it, see if you can get some video footage including license plate numbers and faces, and put it up on youtube and facebook.  Include pics of the nearby street signs.  Advertise the crap out of it as if you're trying to get people to go see it (create anon "fake" facebook page, etc).  Give it a week, and if it doesn't get broken up, send the video link to the local news station.

Of course do this very very sneaky and anonymous otherwise they'll beat the crap out of you.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Knock on the doors of these guys houses and say stop it.  So many freaking people are scared these days.  If they are the type to be scared of be scarier than they are.  Bolt some 4 x 4's to the ground.
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Slight problem with that.

not getting my license until I was 22...well lets just say I thought I was on a race track every time I got in my car...and when I owned The Challenger it became an obsession(thats the reason I sold it :cry)

now in my 40's with a herd of kids I understand why it is just stupid and taking other peoples lives into your hands is very far from "OK"

My friend's boyfriend is like that. He has a 1999 Eclipse GS-T with an upgraded engine/transmission and likes to fly down the streets as fast as possible. He's lucky that he hasn't hit anything and I guess that's why my friend never gets in the car with him unless she's driving.

Everyone that owns an Eclipse or Lancer feels like they're the street racing king at my school.

Hypotheticaly speaking here....

A paintball gun which has a large ammo capacity and high rate of fire.

Paintballs.

A freezer.

A couple of rounds from a roof top. Hold trigger for long burst will give away postion. Small short burst.

Here is the trick to make this work. The next night they do this, take a position on a rooftop in a different location far away from the last postion as possible to evade capture.

Profit!

Hypothetically speaking of course.

This would be the best option IMO. Deadstik's idea can be used as a fallback.

One thing I've noticed about these "thugs" is that they are usually push overs and really stupid. Had a similar problem around here. In addition to the supped up engines, they also dropped the suspension (some had to cross into oncoming traffic just to make a turn). So we put in speed bumps, fixed that problem.

After that they started loitering in front of our houses... so we payed the old guy down the street $100 to run out with a shotgun loaded with blanks when they were at his house. He happily obliged and fired off 3 shots in their general direction. We haven't seen the hoodlums since.

You know what's really funny?

The Eclipse GS-T was designed and produced by Chrysler, which is an American company, so therefore it is American and not Japanese. People who call it a "ricer" or a "rice burner" need to learn that the GS-T isn't a JDM. The Lancer however is a different story.

That may be... but any time I see 2 guys climb out of one of these with no female in tow, my mind makes assumptions that I know might be wrong and stereotypical and all that... but... hmmm
