The footage on Weather Channel right now is insane.  It looks like Joplin all over again.

It looks even worse than Joplin, and I didn't think that was possible.  :(

Youtube Moore 1999 and Greensburg Kansas 2007. The power and size of these things are very hard to comprehend.

Heard the same old talk about underground storm shelters. That will last about a week, then everyone will forget all about them again until next time. Any public building should have an underground shelter big enough for +max occupancy and EVERY residence should be required to have one. I looked at the google map of Moore and saw alot of swimming pools. I hope they had alot of underground shelters.

A quick look of the blocks of houses there shows approx 1000 houses per square on the satmap. If the tornado was 1 mile wide that equals about 2 or those squares. Then multiply along the track thru the area. HUGE amount of homes completely/partially destroyed. If only 1/4 of those people were home at the time and were unprotected it could be alot of deaths.

   Pray for them.

I am shocked to the core from the images I have seen so far today.  I know it is nothing to what ya'll are experiencing.  You have my family's prayers and thought.  A great amount of help is on the way from our state.  You are and will remain in our prayers.

I'm in Tulsa and was not hit, but I have several friends in Moore, a few of whom lost houses of relatives, and one who's niece and nephew were in the school that was destroyed.  None of my people or their families hurt or missing there.  My best friend's cousin was in Ramona and is still missing however.  Tragic day here.

I have friends in Moore, several of who had various relatives houses thoroughly destroyed.  One friend's niece and nephew were in the school that was destroyed, but turned up later in the day at a shelter thankfully.  My best friend's cousin was in Ramona, just down the road from here and is still missing.  Tragic day .

See Rule #14

A basement is underground, but from what I've read, it got flooded.

This town and the whole state is about as prepared as can be but you still only get a few minutes warning after one drops out of the sky.

No one wants to admit that we are that vulnerable, so there is always "fault finding"

The fact is that an EF5 tornado is just so freakishly powerful, safety can't be guaranteed. Not even in a storm cellar.
