Perk Points Update
« on: May 29, 2013, 01:25:57 PM »
It's been a while since we've seen any updates or new features to the perk point system. Here are a few proposals to update the use.

1. Ability to gift perk points to another player.
2. Earn extra points by being part of a squad. If your squad mates earn perk points, you also get a small % of that total.
3. Earn extra perk points by joining a mission and destroy objects.  Points would be shared by all who joined a mission.

Other 'out there ideas'
4. Use perk points to repair your aircraft on an rearm pad.
5. Use perk points to paint your aircraft tail or nose or use a custom nose art
6. Use perk points to speed the repair a field (not sure about this one but its just an idea)
7. Use perk points to speed up the repair of your country HQ.
8. Ability for a squadron/country players to use their collective perk points to spawn a CV group at a port.

Thoughts?

1. Ability to gift perk points to another player. Trouble
2. Earn extra points by being part of a squad. If your squad mates earn perk points, you also get a small % of that total. Trouble
3. Earn extra perk points by joining a mission and destroy objects.  Points would be shared by all who joined a mission. I can dig it

Other 'out there ideas'
4. Use perk points to repair your aircraft on an rearm pad. Never penalize the player base unless a serious flaw in the game is being addressed
5. Use perk points to paint your aircraft tail or nose or use a custom nose art Erg. Is the code time worth this?
6. Use perk points to speed the repair a field (not sure about this one but its just an idea)  :headscratch: Can't we do that with base supplies?
7. Use perk points to speed up the repair of your country HQ. Just seems a perk burner
8. Ability for a squadron/country players to use their collective perk points to spawn a CV group at a port. Our squad would love to own it's own task force for a night of fun but I'm thinking the rest of the player base might get a bit frustrated with that

Squad perks are possible, for example in a squad perk bank. But this idea has been brought up before.

the only one i see as actually useful... #4, especially if it is a perk plane to begin with.

#6 and #7 i could see if it had a significant impact on repair time. like if it normally takes 6 supply drops to bring the hq back up, player johnny spends say 50 bomber perks and it only takes 3 supply drops. of course there would have to be a minimum number of drops to keep players from taking too many shortcuts using perk points. maybe also have a minimum and maximum number of perk points that could be used.

1. Ability to gift perk points to another player. Like A shade account? I think this is dangerous, very dangerous.
2. Earn extra points by being part of a squad. If your squad mates earn perk points, you also get a small % of that total. Interesting, it help the new players out (keeping in mind giving a 262 or 163 to a noob is frustrating, trust me i know. I'm still sad from my frist 262 flight ending short....
3. Earn extra perk points by joining a mission and destroy objects.  Points would be shared by all who joined a mission. I think this is a great idea. I hate seeing that string of dots going towards a target! It's not a horde if it's acting as one... IMO
4. Use perk points to repair your aircraft on an rearm pad. +1... Kinda be nice to have the crew chief slap on control surfaces during my 30 second visit...
5. Use perk points to paint your aircraft tail or nose or use a custom nose art I agree that this is not needed. Some players have trouble as it is with their graphics; this would only add to this problem IMO
6. Use perk points to speed the repair a field (not sure about this one but its just an idea) I agree that a system is already in place for this... .However, having some legend such as WEZEL insta-repair a HQ or field with their thousands of perk points would be nice... I just don't see enough players utilizing this for it to be added.
7. Use perk points to speed up the repair of your country HQ. See Above Answer
8. Ability for a squadron/country players to use their collective perk points to spawn a CV group at a port. I like this idea only to add more naval depth... I agree that it might cause problems so it would have to be regulated tightly to ensure we don't have 10 cv groups attacking a single base... Or HQ.....

My 2 cents.....

I would really hate to see perk points transferred to another player in any shape or form.  There is already trouble with shade accounts perk farming.

I don't see where the current way of doing perks is broken.

3. Earn extra perk points by joining a mission and destroy objects.  Points would be shared by all who joined a mission.

I think this is a great idea especially for new players. Not only does it promote country-wide teamwork, not just squadwork, and provides a certain training element. I learned alot by simply trying to fly in formation with a mission and learned even more watching the ensuing fight.

:x I learned what NOT to do alot faster than what TO do, but why shouldn't there be a system in place that rewards collective teamwork? This game is just better when there's some green in the sky with you....

Just remove the CHog from the list of perk planes.  I am a closet CHog lover:)

I do think the perk point system could use a bit of an update.

I like #4 and REALLY like #3.

I would even go so far to say that if bombers are used in a mission then the perks that are shared by the players who were in the mission would be greater. The more altitude they achieve, the more points they get. The closer it is to a historical mission, the more points are paid out. None of this NOE heavy fighters smash and grab crap that has become SOP for all countries as of late.  This of course only works for those players that don't have 10k perks just lying around.

Number 8 is a big no. Zach is right, I see massive hordes of F6Fs upping off a CV that has already nearly leveled a town. It would only give more mobility to the B-38 raids that all Knight and Rooks have come to hate with a passion.

there is one..  you get to take bases and "win teh war". this is what hordes are for.

you want to earn more perks (and actually learn quicker), get into smaller groups so you actually get to do something instead of flying around in a cloud of green with nothing to shoot at.

What I find strange is how few perk points you receive after downing enemy HQ and landing back home with all 3 planes intact.

Sure, it's not super hard to drop a HQ but RTB for safe landing afterward is extremely hard.
