If you're over the age of 17, there aren't too many discussions here that would interest you

To me its like 200 , its degraded to the point of being sad . The recent slapfight your referring to is worse than useual though  imo. wouldnt  bother except for occasionally there are good interesting post re aircraft and such.

my viewing here has gone down since there seems to be a few that post useless garbage for no other apparent reason other than to have a large post count. I spend most my time cruising the wish list and aircraft forums.

I agree. I also think the next slapfight will be worse, and the one after that worse still...

Muhammad Ali
Exactly what most of them are. Ali was nothing but talk and a whole lot of suck. Think he wouldve been known without that runny mouth he had? NOPE.

People primarily post meaningful stuff on their own squad sites...

I think it depends on the subject and the op's need for attention. There's still some
relevant material being posted. For instance, I posted my suggestion for plane
additions based on not just my picks but other players in the wishlist sub-forum:

Reviews were mixed.  :)

Thank you but it wasn't really the purpose, just trying to get players interested and sharing information.

You're saying the 'other' thread hold more accessible interest, even though it reads like two gangs of grandmas standing on opposite sides of the street waving their handbags at each other?

For some reason when I search I mostly get threads from ten years ago. They seem different to me. More aircraft discussion and ACM. A bit of smack talk for sure, but nowadays this seems to be everywhere

Maybe my tolerance has run out  :old:
The analogy is two guys having a vocal and "juicy" argument in the middle of the street and an interesting poster about the innerworking of some machine hanging on a dark corner of the street - of course the arguing pair will get a lot more attention than the poster from the random people passing by... :)

But you are correct - there used to be a lot more "professional" discussion on these boards, about history, technical plane details, aerodynamics and air combat tactics. Some of it slowed down because those who are interested in this have been around these boards for 10 years now and read it all and there are not enough new players to revive/repeat these discussions. In addition you have to remember that not all AH players are nerds like some of us.

Eh, it may have been going on longer than it shoulda but I reckon you're a good sort
once things get sorted out. Kinda like he friendships that came out of fistfights that
only went so far as to blacken some eyes (ok and maybe jettisoned a tooth or two).

I'm just guessing here, but I think keyboard commandoitis has been around since Gore invented the internet.  All it took was for one guy to realize, "Hey, they can't see me behind this keyboard, and the chance of actual repercussions from what I'm about to say are almost zero... lolz watch this loosers!!!11!".

I've never been a member of any internet community where tardish toughguywannabe's didn't distort the signal to noise ratio.  On the plus side, it's fun to read sometimes.  When it's not, I don't.   :)

Soooo very true.  It gives people an opportunity to be what they aren't in front of people they don't really know.
