Trains please

Going a bit off my last strat post (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,323964.0.html) can we please have a elaborate rail system in witch trains supply bases via their town and port stations/rail yards? I hardly see trains anymore, kinda sad.. Also, should we ever get a nice rail system, can we please even perhaps have the ability to even man their guns? Id love to make a map where a enemy can capture a vbase that has a spawn near a railway and you get to man a german cannon on a armored car to help defend it. But until this happens I wont be able to experiment it on the terrain editor... I even had a thought that you can even operate the train as a engineer in a manned position but AI takes over and continues on route if unmanned. stop in tunnels if there is many air cons or heavy gv resistance ahead. Wait til your buddies kill the threat and then continue.

Many have asked for this (including myself) and have gotten no 'official' response on the matter. Only some agreements and bashing from other players (and non-players) on the issue. From it would be great, to it would just be another way of perk farming.

This is why I suggested AI mode, sure you don't wanna tag along cross country. So hop in when u need too or AI will take over... could even give engineer position a manned gun to hop back and forth to keep busy...

as I've mentioned before, I'm all for adding mannable trains, as long as you include mannable passenger seats and lavatories. maybe mannable diner car to eat in or mannable sleeper car where you can just go take a nap, because you'd be so bored...

while we're  thinking of dull things to do in this game, why not make the supply barges mannable too.  :D

:airplane: I read somewhere in a post that trains resupplied most all the bases in AH, but I recently took a D-40 and on purpose, flew around many bases in my country to see if I could find a train! The only trains I saw were at the "strats", but never did find one anywhere else!

You made your point. suggest another way of getting a train to slow, reverse, stop, and proceed should it be needed if cons are inbound. That's really what im trying to suggest I suppose. Stop in a tunnel, reverse in a tunnel in case of air cons. slow to allow friendly gvs to take care of enemy gvs ahead but still make good time?  :salute

Yeah I didn't find any trains either, except near HeadQuarters/Strats.  Wish they were base to base, would be nice.

Currently they do a 'lap' around their track and then go into a building, then I believe respawn at the other end of this 'track' to do yet another 'lap'. I say this because I was at an enemy HQ today in a tank and seen a train go into the building, then show up less than 5 mins later.  They just do what they are supposed to. There are no tunnels currently (that I know of) where you could hide. Just bridges that don't protect the trains from aircraft.  They don't need a 'driver', they are fine as is. Plus once destroyed they are down for 60 minutes!

They would serve no combat purpose. The bridges we already have suck. They can't be blown up AFAIK, and they can't be flown under.

We have the strats move from front lines to way back. That move has to made via some transportation.
Maybe have some rail yards, highways, convoys, along that path that can be attacked or damaged. Not completely destroyed as they would always find a way to move the strats to safer areas but something that could be a target for fighter bombers or bombers that might even delay that move of strats to a safer area resulting in a further increase in resupply times for that side.

then introduce bridges that take damage and such. This wish is not just for trains but hopefully a total new strat rail system Joe.  :salute

Have to remember though that Hitech Creations has us in mind a little when they don't add every bell and whistle they could.
Want maps that take an hour to download? Want your frame rate to go to 18.3333333 when you fly over these things we ask for?
Want all the people on the lower half of the bell curve regarding computer specs and performance to start complaining or leave the game?
It's a delicate balance they perform. As it is now we have people that complain they can't have high frame rates and people who want to see every blade of grass when they fly over it at 5,000 feet so I think HTC is pretty much in the middle of that trying to keep everyone happy, and able to run the game without having to buy a new rig according to Moore's Law.
