I'm also looking at an aftermarket set for the Browning .50cal since this would be displayed with the gun bays open. Aires has two versions for the wing installation, one that used mechanically-driven feed belts, and one that was electric. Does anyone know which would have been used the F4F-3? I'm assuming the mechanical drive would have come first, but wanted to be sure.
Anyone have an answer for this one? Would really like to know which version to go with.
Incidentally, the kit came today. Looks like it ought to be a beauty, especially with aftermarket details. Masking and painting the roundels for one of those
Enterprise Wildcats might be a bit of an issue. The largest mask I've found so far is a 60" roundel, but the ones in the kit scale to 72". Might have to make my own mask.
Also, has anyone else seen another photo of the VF-6 Wildcats from that period? F-18 is the clearest one, but was wondering if there better pics of other aircraft in that scheme (c. March 1942) out there.
