Yeah...the hardest part is pushing forward, because it feels like I'm not getting anywhere.

I've been there!

Remember this : Each day forward is one day closer to the day that you finally grasp the lip at the edge of the hole you find yourself in, and one day closer to pulling yourself out with each and every one of us here at your back, helping to push you out!

We got you, brother! It may not come in a matter of days or weeks, but it will come!

I hope so. I'm tired of pushing. Even Marines need R&R every now and then.

If war couldn't break you then this won't either. In the long run it will make you stronger. If she is no longer the same woman that you used to love then you must face that, and fight for what is yours and what you believe is right. Don't let her, or her family, use your feelings against you.

I have an in-law that served in Afghanistan in the Marines as a Sniper.  He was never the same when he got back.  The mother is very concerned for him.  He's become morbid since his return.

It happens...ask any vet here. He needs his battle buddies...he needs to talk to them and a professional.

I have not spoken to him and so that I can understand:  Is it guilt he may feel that he is not back there with his buddies?  He chose not to re-enlist.

i am not an expert and there are likely a multitude of reasons for why the guy could be traumatized...but my first iinstinct is to say that being a sniper can f**k you up

a long time ago now my friend came back from iraq having served as a sniper and he went through over a year of trouble with the police/drugs/alcohol before he ended upgetting the help he needed and becoming something like his old self again

in his case he just had too many unpleasant memories and feelings that he needed to block himself away from. and the unfortunate side effect was doing crazy, unstable toejam while under the influence which kept getting him locked up and creating more feelings of guilt
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

Yes, I still reside in this humid place lol.

And as previously stated it is more than likely a plethora of things bothering him all at once. Even if he thinks nothing is wrong he needs to talk to someone. It never hurts.

Sending prayers and good luck your way Marine!  Wish I could find some words that would help, but I'll leave that to the man above!

Marine,

You dont know me, but we are brothers.  U.S. Army myself, and I live in GA.  PM me, I know some people here at the Logistics base, and I know of some people here who might can give you some temporary help.   I don't have money, or I would give it, but I will help if I can in any other way.

PS:  I only get to check this forum about once a day right now.  So if you PM me, give me a little bit to respond.

You live in Albany???

And lol @the meat stick comment.

This is why I love the AH community. No other gaming group is this close. Even after butting heads we all make sure everyone is good to go.

I try to keep my mind occupied by working outside the house I'm staying at and doing other stuff. I still get in a bad way at least once a day, and I can't sleep, but my friends keep around when I get like that. A fellow Marine buddy has actually been staying here at nights to help me get through. He'll go skateboard with me or something else to distract my mind.

Each day is a battle...one I'm tired of fighting, but they won't let me stop moving forward.

It's been strange breaking down the way I have...even talking about it on here, but this forum was always an online home for me. I'm fortunate to have the friends I do. my next challenge is finding a ride to therapy tomorrow. I had to miss my clinical yesterday because I couldn't get one.

They want to make sure I'm doing ok medically because I've lost over thirty pounds since this started, but in the last week my friends have been force feeding me lol. I just take a bite and get sick.

It's a lot to deal with, and some days I call it quits, but then my friends snatch me up and force me to keep marching.

:D

No I don't live in Albany(if that question was on me) still in the North of NH

I agree this BBS and group of people are like a second home for me as well....

you can see how tight nit it is when someone is hurting.

there has been many times I wanted to end it..came real close a couple times, the wife walked in on me with my Sks to my head one time,...... I am glad I am still here....I know at least things can change for the better...if I am gone that is it....
things haven't gotten "better" for me...but I now feel hope and that is something I am not used to.....

you will get past this.....fight on man...fight on. :salute
