The perfect solution for tank town
« on: September 14, 2013, 05:02:33 AM »
Set a plateau at 30k rimmed with vertical cliffs to keep the vehicles from spilling out. None of the mudhen aircraft perform well enough at that altitude to do any dive bombing. The Storch won't fly, which means GVs will have to remain on their toes.

So, if TT on Trinity is ever going to return, then it is my wish that it return in this way.

 There's nothing wrong with bombing GVs in TT or anywhere else....it actually happened during the war. What didn't happen was towering out on concrete when you were about to get killed. Suck it up Chalenge. Your whine has been recorded several times now.

TT gets captured by the rooks every time it passes through, especially on the Trinity map. This would end that. As to the 'whine' you mention, it is the opposing tanks that whine about me, dweeblet. You versus me in tanks? You wouldn't live ten seconds. That's your whine.

Why you couldn't hit a bull in the arse with a bass fiddle! I'd drive a jeep up to your back door and pistol whip ya while you were trying to reload!  :ahand

Bad argument, since games based (even loosely) on military history *always* have to carefully select what to simulate, based on the fact that it's a *game* instead of an exact simulation of reality, and the primary goal is to have it be *fun* for *all* players.  For example, in the real thing, you died.  You don't die in the game.  Guess why?

Furthermore, to restate the obvious for the millionth time, no reasonable player wants to make GVs invulnerable to AC over the entire game map.  Instead, *all* play styles should be supported at *all* times on *all* maps, because that produces the greatest overall player enjoyment, attracts the greatest number of players, and makes the most money for HTC.  To achieve this for GVs, the game mechanisms and/or game maps still need to be adjusted to guarantee at least one interesting location on *all* maps where GVs can function without being trumped by AC.  Probably that means a TT designed to keep AC under control, or chained VBases (one-to-the-next) designed to keep AC under control.  I don't think that's all that difficult to understand, do you???

I get bombed in one of many sorties in GV, the system we have is fine - get better airsupport or don't bring a perk tank out especially if you are going to sit on concrete.

Doesn't work because,

1)  If you fly/GV alone (not in a squad), you can't "get air support" without ditching your GV and upping a plane.  By the time you get there, the ground attack aircraft which were molesting you are usually gone.  You fly around (wasting your time) until out of fuel. and then leave and reup your GV.  Shortly after the attackers reappear.  Rinse and repeat...

2)  If you can't use your GV perks with equivalent safety and satisfaction to using your AC perks, then the system is broken.

I personally don't bomb the guys in TT as I understand that they want to be left to do their own thing. But I do enjoy killing the bomb****s trying to grief the tankers and porking the airfields where they're coming from. Sometimes us plane dweebs can be a tankers best friend  :old:

WRT Trinity, it already has 30K (or at least high enough) mountains surrounding TT, which accomplishes the same thing, with no extra work.

I've seen nothing wrong with tank town fighting, some people just want an excuse not to have bombs around so they can bring out heavily perked vehicles to play with.

Im all happy for that, but bomb****s are what stops that from getting out of hand.

Yes, but the problem in AH is relative population.  In AH about 3 times as many people are in the air as are on the ground.  In WWII it was more like 10 times as many people on the ground as in the air.  So in AH the probability of being bombed in your GV is an order of magnitude larger than in real life.
