I had a gaming rig specifically built for BF4.  BF2 was so enjoyable that I spent years playing it.  Got into other things when BF3 was around.  But I'm back and ready for BF4.  The damage model in BF2 was a bit gamey (took 3 to 4 rounds from the M-16A4 to kill a person- real life study from Vietnam showed it only took 2).  Anyhow, I'd always have a blast landing a Blackhawk full of troops at an enemy flag in the rear.  Or racking up massive amount of kills in the M2HB mounted atop the HUMVEE.  Having a couple of Bradleys and Abrams with engineers as drivers (to repair each other) made for some awesome armored formations.

Anyways, I went with a Pentium I7-4770k 3.5mhz processor, GTX 670 2mb video card (are they still called GeForces?), 16mb of DDR3 1600mhz ram, Windows 7 Ultimate.  I found some guy on Craigslist who built the machine for me, only charged $100 to put it all together. Was going to go with an all AMD setup, but for the same price (and better performance) I got a intel rig.  Just the heat factors alone made that a wise decision.  The highest performing AMD machines have to be water cooled.  Even my rig puts off some heat, but I got a nice fan setup and a digital temp display. Been playing the latest version of Americas Army on it.  Having a blast.

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

It will be interesting to see how their VOIP works out. They say, which means nothing, the VOIP will be squad only to begin with and later it will have country channel. There are a lot of griefers in this game tho its probably not as bad as COD. I still expect a lot of fools on that VOIP, most of all cause BF has been totally unable to control the hackers in its game.

But more then that BF4 is no more then what BF3 should have been had they developed it right. The damage engine in BF3 is not very good, the game doesnt look all that good, some of the maps blow. The flight model blows. They still dont have TrackIR support. I played BC2 a lot, even joined a squad, but played BF3 very little. I used to love the Vietnam part of BC2.

I think I'll pass on BF4 and maybe get the new ARMA.

I would wait on buying Arma at its current price. Multiplayer is near impossible to play, with most servers barely allowing you to go past 20FPS regardless of PC specs (yes, server quality affects your FPS). Currently no campaign, AI is still dumb/super sharpshooters. Nice graphics is all it has. You might find the rare servers that lets you run above 30FPS to be enjoyable but again, it's rare to find one.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

My plan is to buy BF4 and mess around with that for a while then buy Arma 3 later on so it isn't as buggy lol

They should've released it a while ago and do weekly or monthly patches instead of delaying it this long. Not to mention its using the Arma2 engine which is poo. A lot of people already lost whatever hype they had waiting for this game. By the time it comes out, the graphics are going to look terrible in comparison to newer titles and a few of the playerbase will already have lost interest.

I thought BF1942 was the best thing ever. Would still be playing it if my old laptop hadn't crashed and I lost the installation CD. Online gameplay always sucked for me due to inadequate connection.

BFVietnam was a missed opportunity. Just didn't feel as right as BF 1942.

BF2 was great on the same level for me as '42. Still the same old lag to deal with online. Missiles on jets would glitch up and fly harmlessly by the target. This would be my last OL experience with FPS games prior to joining AH. Lag and connection issues were never a problem here as they were in BF. Tried renewing my account at BF2 and logged out in 5 minutes after witnessing all of the blatant hacks. Ruined a great game.

I bought BF3 used off a friend. Played halfway through the single-player before quitting. Not that I was dissatisfied, but I got way too busy with work and school to get involved. For online experience, AH has won my devotion of limited time.

That all being said, BF4 is a toss up for me if I get it at all. I wish the series the best, but hacks/poor policing just kill my enthusiasm for this product. Once the next step comes out, the predecessors become cesspools.

BFBC2 and Vietnam were good.  I played them with friends for a couple years.  BF3 seemed like they sold out a little trying to get the massive audience that COD series gets.  BF4 looks even more like the COD games.  Mind numbing dumbed down dweeb fests.  I may get BF4 eventually, it just depends on how it turns out.  I am however seriously looking at Tom Clancy's The Division.  If it turns out as good as the trailers look, it will be a serious time killer for me.

How though? I never got that part of the argument against BF3/BF4. The vehicles are still big and bad arse, the maps are still huge, it plays nothing like CoD. The campaign is lackluster but no one plays Battlefield for the singleplayer in the first place. It's there to show off graphics/weapons/new things. The multiplayer is NOTHING like CoD. Every game of BF3 I played, either no one talked in chat or there were the usual "lol" and banter that happens in every online game. Never had a problem with hackers. I ran into maybe one or two since I've been playing since release day. Or if they were hacking, then they were getting killed by others just as easily as if they weren't hacking.

Do you still play DayZ?  I've been playing Epoch for the last few weeks.  also tried origins too.

I still have it installed but stopped playing a long time ago, a little bit after the second map came out (cant remember the name). It was fun with a group of people, but all of them quit after a while and I couldn't bring myself to play hiking simulator by myself.

I'm just basing my opinions on what I saw in the trailers.  Of course it will never be exactly like COD but it appears to be moving in that direction.  This is all just my opinion of course.  I will most likely still be getting BF4 at some pont, I just wasn't impressed by the trailers.  Great graphics are fine, but its the game play that worries me.

On a side note BFBC2 had a great campaign IMO.

I'm not buying any FPS game anymore untill they come at least 75% off. Due to the hackers I find they're not really worth even that much in the end.

Great products ruined by lamers and devs inability to stop the cheaters. Lifetime ban for first offense is the only way to go, preferably also nuke the harddrive of the offender before the ban!

Yeah, me to. One of the plus's of playing niche games like AH is you dont have the hackers on it. Its fair and square. Your either good or your not.

With BF3 the amount of hacking resources is just disgusting. It wouldnt surprise me if that entire leader board is hacks. Also the entire flight component of BF blows. The fighters are awful even if you like flying with a mouse. The choppers are better but they still dont fit in as well as they did in BC2.
