Fast!

20 kts. plus.  Sometimes over 30 kts.  :O

I haven't seen much more than 10 kts. in my boat (as measured by GPS, anyhow) and that was in 15 kt. winds with ~ 500 pounds of rail meat, hiking WAY out.

You are correct, they are on hydra planes.

There was a Foiling  Moth at the race I was in on Saturday.  I always wanted to try sailing one of those.

I finally saw a race beginning to end the last race from the start and at a couple points the running speedo had oracle ove 40 kts. This was my first year of seeing them on foils and omfg amazing. I hate the politics. But phenomenal racing. And apparently the announcer is a distant relative and past sailor himself. Explains a lot about my past.

How fast do those bloody things go?

Its been many years since I sailed. These new boats look like they are flying on hydra planes.

They were hitting 40 knots, some of the chase boats must've had a hard time keeping pace. The one great thing from this Cup round was we got to see some insane skills... I'm still trying to understand the physics of how a boat can get up to 40 knot speed in a 18 knot wind :D
