Preview Films
« on: October 07, 2013, 09:27:57 AM »
We have attached a preview of three films we are going to be putting up on our official Youtube channel and are looking for some feedback.  There are two distinct categories involved in these three films.

We already have some of our own comments and improvements we want to see, but it never hurts to have more eyes on the target.  The resolution for these is only 1280x720.  The final cuts will be 1920x1080.

Lead, lag, and pure pursuit explored.
Environment mapping revealed.
Maximum texure size explained.

"Maybe you're just happy being the target."

Skuzzy, you figured me out.

(Love the intro splash)

I do not plan on my voice being used for the final cuts.  We just needed a place holder for the moment.

If you can get Cullen to do Eeyore (not Optimus Prime) for the final cut, that would be awesome (though I thought you did fine).  :D

The beginning of the Max Texture Size video (in the cockpit) looked really dark to me on my laptop. I could not really tell any difference between all the textures sizes. The second part, however, was perfect - showing the exterior fuselage texture differences was amazing.

Do you have plans to explain in more depth (maybe with diagrams or animation along with in-game footage) lag/pure/lead pursuit, to make it more clear what is accomplished and why you'd choose one over another? (Or is it just and advertisement for seeking out an in-game trainer?  ;))

When showing the differences between a toggled setting (like in the environment mapping video), the toggling of the setting might be more obvious if you changed the color of the "enabled/disabled" text...perhaps red for disabled and white (or green) for enabled.

The 'pursuit' film was meant to wet the appetite.  Obviously, we could go into incredible detail about each, but then it could get tedious to the casual listener.  We may follow up with more details about each type of pursuit.

The two tech films are supposed to help a person understand what the options do.  I was wondering if that cockpit shot would be too dark to use.

Good feedback. Thank you.

I liked the shortness of the videos and also the slow tempo of the speech. For a non-native English speaker these things matter, as trying to understand something new in a foreign language takes a bigger effort.

Explain?  What is "fish effect".  These films are not the final resolution and all have been sampled down just for the preview.
