i guess we can add 'healthcare' to the long list of things the US is terrible at, along with:

* keeping religious nutjobs out of government
* preventing murders
* the war on terror
* the war on drugs
* not having a completely corrupt and screwed up prison/justice system
* stopping religious nutjobs from influencing education
* having worthwhile media outlets
* not being morbidly obese
* winning wars against drastically inferior militaries

the punitive damages were reduced by the judge to 480,000. the parties settled out of court for less than 600,000 before the appeal verdict was read.

and to think that she had asked before hiring a lawyer to pay her actual medical expenses and her loss of income for a total of less than 20,000 but she was offered 800 bucks by mcdonalds.

    McDonalds did nothing wrong that's why it was reduced. Thus they owed her nothing for her mistake. They did not spill the coffee on her. They handed her a cup with a lid. She opened it as they pulled away and the driver stopped to allow her to add the sugar and cream. The accident was totally their fault. The Deal was done in private so we will never know but I'm sure Her mistake cost more than a Million to McDonalds with lawyers fees ect. In hindsight perhaps they should have accepted the $20,000.
     Anyway the point I made that some ignore as they add their trivial comments is still valid that common sense and efficiency is lacking in many areas leading to the economic downturn the world is seeing. Please get back to the problem this thread addresses or post your own.

He can't come to the phone, right now.  He is too busy having his posts erased by Skuzzy.  :aok

I will second your thoughts about the lack of common sense and efficiency. :aok    :aok

Great to hear Shifty... I'm happy for you.  I've been looking for 18 months now.  It will happen for me hopefully soon.  Till then I just have to nut up and roll with the punches.

Been wondering what happened to you. I thought maybe you ran off and joined the circus.  :D
Keep rolling brother one day you roll out from under those punches.  :salute
