Aircraft Purge
« on: October 23, 2013, 11:30:01 AM »
:airplane:  I am not a computer whiz, by any streach of the imagination, so I may be talking about something that would not improve this great game. I was thinking about all those aircraft and vehicles which sit in the hangars and are never used. Would it be of any benefit to delete those aircraft and vehicles which are not used very much, such as the Spit 1, P-38G, 110C-4B, A6M2, C-202, F.1 Camel, Hurricane MK I, Sea Hurricane MK I, JU-87D-3.
Would that make it easier for AH to replace these aircraft with other things which would be of more use?

No, not at all.

Besides, there will always be planes & GV at the bottom of the usage list. And furthermore, all the planes you mention are being used and get hundreds to thousands of kills & deaths per tour.

I don't really see the point in deleting something that previously had a lot of work put in to create them. Counter-productive really. Deleting one aircraft doesn't make another appear instantly, the same work and effort would still have to be put in to making the new one. All you'd be doing is removing a lot of variety which is something which would detract from the game.

Ever heard the phrase "One mans scrap is another mans treasure"?

Yes they are hardly used, but all of my favourite rides are in your list of planes to delete. If HT did this, I would leave. I like the challange of the EW planes, to the point my squad asked who was flying my handle when I jumped in a 190 once. Anything post 1941 I don't touch. Main fighters are 109E, Spit1, A6M. Main bomber is 111.

What benifit would you get from removing the planes? Other than driving off some players?

I think earl thinks there's limited space or something..

earl. there is essentially unlimited space in computers these days.. no need to get rid of anything to make room for something else..

No need.. You may want to take a few of those out for a test drive.  The MA ones are great perk farmers.  With the exception of the camel, I am pretty sure I have gotten a kill in each of the ones you want to get rid of since I started.  Taking a less than uber ride out and winning is a great feeling.

That made me look up my own numbers... got 1446 kills in those planes Earl mentioned (excluding DA, AvA & special events) :joystick:

  Well, then I stand corrected gentleman, as I pointed out, I am not a computer whiz, I can turn it on and off, but was thinking that may be one of the reasons Aces High doesn't add some of these good ideas to improve the game! Sorry I bothered you guys, but not thinking straight these days.

It's ok, Earl. This has been something that's apparently weighed on your mind for awhile. I'm glad the community could help.  :salute

The major differance between this wish and the many others that have come before it is the respect that Earl has on these boards. He is constantly imparting a lot of useful information and just genuinely want us to understand the planes and the period a bit better. He is never condescending and is always respectful to all posters. Respect earns respect. Because of this people are willing to be abit more forgiving when he posts a wish.

Maybe a lesson to all new posters. Treat others well and you in turn will be treated well.
