Just wait till this is introduced, I predict much screaming and tears from the I wanted more graphics crowd as their uber PCs grind to halt trying to run it.

I'm willing to bet HTC is taking in to consideration the older systems as they develop new terrains and features for AH.  Give them the benefit of the doubt.  I bet HTC also knows that some people are not going to be able to continue to play on antiquated systems no matter how hard they try and allow for those outdated systems.  All in all, it is we the players need to keep pace with the industry.  I think HTC has done well over the years of keeping us "in play".

This will, I expect, pretty much be the death knell of being able to play AH on my existing PC.  I will need to scrounge up the money to build a new one somehow.

It looks so pretty! Next we need updated explosions, fires, and tracers!  :aok

no. Updated terrain features that effect or in relation to ground movement. Gvs should be able to move best over roads and suffer penalties of varying degrees when traveling over open ground or sand as well as differing sounds for each. Imagine hearing the snap crackle and pop of a tank moving through a wooded area or the clank clank clank when traveling over a road

You may be onto something, as there is mention that it is in early development. :aok

What a cool idea. It would require an optional config file, like the defset file for eto/pto, so that the terrain builder could specify different sounds if he replaced a farm tile with a forest or desert sand tile.
Easy in-game again.

I just got a new system for school, and it can run current AH reasonably well at 37fps, and now I'm gonna be back to crappy framerates  :(.

But...

Pretty high, but not quite maxed.

Then yes, your 8 year old system runs games better than my ultrabook, purchased with an emphasis on school work. The only way this thing is "for" gaming is that I got it with a dedicated graphics card instead of a disk drive.

And I would have done that anyway, since I'm going to be doing a lot of CAD for my engineering classes.
