Objects as in terrain and trees, vehicles only, or all of the aforementioned?

If I get an FPS drop will it help to reduce the object display range?  That seems obvious but I want to be sure.  

The way it was explained to me is, vs. other games that ppl use to benchmark and often criticize AH for not looking as pretty as...those games have very small arenas that all players are funneled into. This game takes into account every players distance from your current position and is constantly updating. The sectors are 25miles, so if you count the amount of sectors from the furthest point you'll get an idea how massive/grand that is to take into account. As you get closer to other players the need to update locations intensifies and processing demands go up. As you can see, with maps as large as we have there is an enormous amount of calculations needing to be rendered to and by the server to your machine and back. Anyhow that is how it was explained to me...someone correct anything I may have misstated.

Also, you do NOT want frps drops, those make things appear to scoot n stop rather than fluid.

Thanks for being patient.  I love AvA.  Wish that was the popular arena.  WBs had a really active one and it died.  Was sad that happened.

Any way, I am gonna dig into this based on all the help and advice presented.  Hopefully no hard feelings with anyone.

well that is better than i expected. what card are you running and can you get me a screen shot of you actually closer to the action not 4k out?

EVGA gtx 660ti 3g model. about 280$ new and maybe 240$ now.
CPU is just a simple ole i5 2500k
8gb RAM.
Nothing fancy at all in that setup and runs the game fine. Ill try to find you old pictures and stuff from when im in fights.

Olds: I have a 660Ti too (MSI.)  On certain maps and and at certain bases my frps drop, sometimes considerably. I also get big drops when the furball starts to get near ~50 or greater in immediate vicinity. I am however running a somewhat older machine with this new card. I turn off all the unnecessary programs I can find. I turn AVG av off, but it still keeps running 3 programs even when "disabled." I don't use shadows and no ground clutter either, yet there is no way I could keep steady frps around 80 ppl. My background programs running total ~44, and my CPU usage is usually in the 2-5% range (I know Skuzzy recommends that it be lower and near a steady zero if possible.) What do you think the difference is?

I should note to the above though, that the majority of the time my frps are steady at the said settings.

Also, what does the set field of view setting correspond to?

What is your CPU, you never stated it. For one if its an AMD CPU you are in some trouble as a friend of mine has a fx-8350 8 core AMD and my quad core 4 years older i5 2500k still beats him in FPS.
Also my CPU usage when i normally play is around 10-15% as I have pandora and multiple tabs of web browser open.

The game tried to fine the "best" FOV for me but I like wider FOV in this game for better SA (flying with mouse and keyboard its harder to keep SA high...) Also thats another thing, generally the higher the FOV the bigger the FPS drop... How ever this isn't really a factor anymore.

EDIT: What model is your 660ti? is it 1gb or 2gb/higher

Yes, please.   The cockpit looks cartoonish.  Not much better than mine, frankly.   The water looks better though.

Understand that the SS blurs the image some...But if you think that looks like a "cartoon" allow me to show you the real thing (Note its 60 years old and real is not infact brown.)

My computer runs the game Max Graphics (everything on), anti-aliasing all the way up, and 2048 texture, with 60FPS

I run BF3 60FPS and War Thunder 60FPS.

Don't think I will be having problems with this game anytime soon.

I still have an older AMD Phenom II 1100T OC'ed slightly to 3.5 Ghz and dual GTX 670s.  Like I said..the game runs fine.  I have asked for a Intel i5 4670k CPU and motherboard for Xmas but not for this game...just time for a small upgrade.

Not as much as you would think.  The 1100t is actually rated in many games nearly the same as the newer FX chips and in some cases actually better.  That's one reason why it's held it's value so well.  AMD has dropped the ball and lost my business for this upgrade cycle...if they can improve maybe I'll go back in two or three years.

Thats the thing, the FX chips are not good... being nearly the same as an FX chip is like being slightly worse the terrible...
