I think there would be a problem with a lack of suitable controls as well.  A flight stick is not very common for a console, and neither is a keyboard which are very much a large part of AH.

Yes, I am aware there are other ways to play AH, and you could get those two items for consoles..
A friend has an XBox controller that has a small qwerty keyboard between the thumb sticks.  I bet one could at least sort of play AH on such a device.

Some of you need to read more and smoke less  :rofl bemused55 and hawkeri I am looking at you  :huh

I am talking pretty much about something that has been whined about a lot recently, graphics, and AHs limitions due to a wide range of PCs and operating systems.

If everyone was on the same machine there would be no need to hold back on the graphics front (not that I care about graphics) but it looks like it is gonna happen if I like it or not. Would development be offset by the time spent presently making the game run well with 3 or 4 verisons of windows and the mish mash of different hardware?

Wouldn't it ultimately be a lot easier for HTC to work with one set of high hardware specs to produce a game that runs great and looks great and has millions of potential customers?

Do I really want to have a laptop, PS4 and then build a high performance desktop to play one game? I am sure a lot of guys are the same.

If, and it is a very big if, HTC were to release AH for the PS4 and/or XBone they would certainly not cease support for the PC.  Many of (most maybe?) their existing player base don't have a console of any kind and have no intention of getting one.

PS controllers already have 2 analog sticks, analog shoulder buttons (for rudder), and motion sensing, analog buttons.. plug in a usb keyboard, you're rockin.

Hate to be the bad guy here but War Thunder has already beat AH to the idea. They have a ps4 version launching sometime this month. Its got a little bit of hype going for it already and the entire concept is online play. So to spend all the time and money on developing AH for consoles now might be a little tough.  If it was going to be the FIRST to release on a console then yeah maybe why not.

As far as paying for 2 accounts, honestly I pay for 2 accounts now I have a 360 now and will be getting a PS4 soon enough (which means no more "Gold" for Xbox) and I will pay the 9-10 bucks a month for the PS Plus account, but I can honestly say that if they had a console version of AH and it was pretty much the same as it is here I would play the console version because its cheaper per month than the $15 now.

The console community is a little immature and obnoxious at times sure, however PART of the reason I think we don't have that many on here is because of the difficulty level of learning this game and the learning curve being so high. They don't have the patience to sit and learn the game and all its technicalities. So if you add a keyboard as a required accessory to the console version and add some difficulty to the console version they might stay away from it a little, but then again that also would mean less sales.

So while I think it would have been a good idea, I think that train already left the station with War Thunder, because I can speak from experience trying to find one, that there doesn't seem to be to much to choose from in that niche in terms of online WW2 multiplayer play on consoles. On another note World of Tanks is developing right now for the Xbox and they have a teaser trailer out already.

I cant really speak in terms of graphics and capabilities between PC and Console cause I am not a Tech guy. All that I do know is that every WW2 flying game on consoles prior to the new PS4 and XB1 have left a lot to be desired xtremely arcade like and "cartoon" like in my opinion. Just no where near the realism and authentic feel that we have here.

Just my thoughts on it

+1 with cross platform servers so we can teach them the hard way  :D

I'm a PC gamer and don't believe that the regular PS4 controller can achieve the same level of precision than a mouse or a stick, but gamers nowadays seem to do pretty good with them  :joystick:

One thing people seem not to realize is the cross platform compatibility.  While not so much an issue with the PS4 (Sony doesn't put up any barriers to prevent cross platform compatibility), it is with the Xbox1 as Microsoft doesn't allow cross platform compatibility with Xbox1 online titles.  This means, if there is ever a console version of AH, those on the Xbox1 version will only be able to play on the same server, not with those with the PS4 or PC version.

This is a good idea..  Also there is enough people in the community of the PC and Ps4 that you could get a fund drive going. Kinda like  DCS did for there new WWll sim.  They raised around a 150000.  IF it is cross compadibility it would be easy for me to shell out $500...

I don't think adding the kind of population you would be talking about would be a good thing
for the game.  I remember vividly dealing with AOL junior members in AW chat during the early
90s.  They would ask a simple question and I would reply.  After about 20 seconds I would start
getting vulgar comments mostly illustrating a goldfish-like attention span.

I was confused at first, thinking that the only reason noobs would come to the chat room was
a desire to learn the game.  It turns out I was running into a lot of Californian latchkey kids whose
folks used AOL as a cheap babysitter.

The idea of a similar situation in the MA makes me nauseous.

There are some ways to remedy that. There is always the report to moderator button.

But seriouly guys,  I have to agree that we PC sim pilots are a dying breed..  IF I have to choose from HTC dying out like Warbirds or gettting console gamers in and loosing a few of the old sticks it is a price that i am willing to pay!!!  Not that I dont want you guys to stay. Love you here but dont want to see the game die. SO am willing to sacrife you guys if we can get more people.

I mean I don't know were you would go:  Warthunder or CoD???????????? :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
