Guitar players
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:37:24 PM »
Anyone on here play guitar? Just trying to open up a forum about the subject.

I've been playing for a little over twenty years. I've owned quite a few and currently have three Epiphones (a black Les Paul Standard, an SG, and a Thunderbird,) a Fender Tele, a Peavey Reactor (Tele copy) a Martin copy and a Fender electric mandolin.

I play metal, hard rock, classic rock, and blues.

I've played several epiphones and I don't like them at all.  They just feel cheaply made.  Maybe that's because my first real guitar that I bought for myself is a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio model.  I also have a fender blacktop tele and a Gretsch G5120

I just started playing this summer, bought myself a decent acoustic that was on sale. I like playing a lot, and I have been playing Sax for about 10 years now and Ukulele for a bit over a year. Hopefully Santa has an electric or a new Ukulele planned for me :D

Been playing for almost 15 years (late starter) - play in a local band, we play country, new country, classic, blues, pretty much whatever takes our fancy lol......

Branch, I've got a 82 epiphone les paul that will pretty much give any gibson les paul a good run for its money, were you closer, you'd be more than welcome to play it. Yeah, I know, big claim, but had plenty of people with gibson les paul's comment and try to buy it from me lol........
Agree with the newer ones not feeling right tho.

Waiting for waffle and skyrock to drop in now - know both of them play.

Been playing about 20 years now.  I have a Gibson J-50 dreadnaught, Fender Tele, and Loar LH-309 (Gibson 125 copy).

Can barely play but I've been designing unusual devices for guitar since I did a working model of "the sustainer" in 1981 and spent nearly a year of days off doing patent searches and trying to patent it.

Even shopped the idea around to companies like fernandes and Floyd rose.

Started collecting Kramers after giving away a "holy grail" Kramer focus 1000 with banana headstock and original Floyd rose.

If you ever see an old Kramer (not the new reissues) with a "non-pointy headstock" like the one pictured below, at a garage sale, think twice before passing it up.

Sammy playing a baretta with a focus "hockey stick" neck and eddie playing a strat with a telecaster neck.

Apparently, eddie used to pull all nighters at the Kramer factory and party down with the employees while trying different neck/body combinations.

Here's eddie breaking every rule in guitar building as Floyd rose looks on....horrified.

That guitar is now displayed at the hard rock café in Orlando.

I'm an acoustic guy myself.  I've got an old nylon string Fender, two Ovations, a Taylor (this is the one I use for most of my shows), and a one-of-a-kind prototype arch-top by a company that was called RJP Technologies; they went belly-up many years ago, but it is a beautiful guitar. All but the Fender have pick-ups.  You can see the guitar in the following picture.

Nice hollowbody, that's primarily what I use at shows.  Mine has a p90 at the neck position though.

I have 2 ESPs from back in the day (late 80's/early 90s, ESP couldn't date it) eclipse and a custom build one from '99 as well as a Guild accustic and a child sized guitar called the 'shredder' which I installed emg-81 actives in 10 years ago as a joke.
