Pretty much, so far after 4 days of being alive, I have an M4 with a silencer except it doesn't silence, LOL there are no vehicles, but I am around the northwest airfield if anyone cares to have some fun. My server stays full at night time with 30 players, during off hours I get between 5-10.

My Public server is 68.232.178.10:2302
My teamspeak server is ts55.gameservers.com:9716

Feel free to hop on whenever and have some fun, I have a few friends that are playing, we plan on getting the game down and hopefully when things get fixed we can start driving around and zapping newbies :D
You have an M4 with a silencer? I've got an empty magnum and starving to death somewhere near the spawn town.  :frown:

Arma 2 DayZ was better than the current standalone, but the standalone is sure to surpass the mod. For now, guns are few and far between when in Arma 2, you could stumble across piles of ordinance every 1/2 mile or so.

My thoughts so far on the standalone: Yeah it's alright. The players? Bandits.

And since this is a role playing game, lets role play!

ATTEMPT ONE: I spawned in the spawn town and drank some water out of a nasty pond. Wandered into the starting town and found a splitting axe. Used the road to the left to ditch town, found a zombie and hit it in the head. Wandered on for a mile or so, headed what I thought was east, continued on. Found a house and a barn. The kind of barn with two sort of attics on the left and right side. Killed a zombie, fell off the top floor, and broke my leg, after the zombie hit me. I crawled out of the barn for a few minutes and found my first human player! Who beat me to an unconscious death with a wrench.

Yup, the same old cruel dayz.  :aok

You are forgetting, Dayz Standalone is in Alpha mode, there are no vehicles, very few weapons - very few zombies right now, give it a few months to get put together and its going to be one hell of a game.

Probably a dumb question for those of you that play this, and no I haven't checked out youtube to see what its really like but, is this like a FPS type of thing? read some stuff on the wiki about it...How much does it cost? Is it cool is my main point?...the concept really peaks my interest...I really only play AH on P.C....I used to play COD 4 on P.C. but the hackers anger me severely...war thunder is crap and world of tanks angers me also...would like to find another game because my daughter refuses to let me play my 360  :lol  if she's not playing modern warfare 2 she's playing UFC

Its $30 on steam right now, yes it is a first person shooter. I absolutely love the game concept, you are a lone survivor - you spawn in southern russian in a 300mile large map. Your job is to survive, scavenge, and live.

Survive is harder then it looks, with zombies running around isn't the biggest problem, other survivors are the problem, you have to be stealthy, collect food and guns and survive.

I'm anxiously waiting for a bit more content and bug fixes before I purchase. I'm thinking in another 2-3 months I'll go ahead and buy it.

LOL

My son had a similar experience, except whomever it was that beat him into unconsciousness actually left him a bunch of food and supplies....after stealing his wrench.  :)

I had an Epoch Mod server, problem is I didn't get any visitors in 3 weeks. I advertised the hell out of the server, one of the problems is hackers plague Epoch servers really bad, of the 10 vistors I had totally in december 4 were hackers that blew up Cherno or Electro.
Setting the mods for Epoch are really really easy, it just takes some time to get used to modifying the files on the server. Its best to make yourself a little Dayz Folder, and learn to pack and unpack the PBO Files.

If you haven't done it before, its a pain in the bellybutton and tricky, if you mess up modifying the server files, the server will either not run or be screwed up, however! as many times as I screwed it up on my server, I can tell you it eventually gets easy to figure out.

I had AI missions (which is a must, this puts 1-4 missions on the map at all times, it allows players to go see out AI bots and kill them for decent weapons) plus it tends to attract players in the area who also want some of the weapons and gear.
Sarge AI is a must as well, this add Bandits/Heros/Survivors to the game, you can modify their weapons and skill as well as numbers, I had between 3 and 9 Bots that randomly spawned in every grid in the game (I put a maximum of 5 groups per grid) which means just about every few minutes you tended to run into a group or two of Bandits or survivors, depending on your reputation, you would either be left alone or attacked! This keeps players on their feet, and if you kill the group your rep goes up or down.

The only BAD part about this, the AI does steal vehicles - I once hopped out in electro to check the hospital for some bloodbags and the bots stole my damn vehicle and crashed it when they ran into bandits (it blew up) doh I forgot to lock my car (grand theft bots)

I would of kept my Epoch server, but the new SA server is twice as expensive, maybe you being in England you will have a better chance to get players to jjoin and have fun, if you DO by a server let me know I will be glad to help you out and show you what to do to set it up.

It wouldn't take but a few hours to have everything fixed and working.

I keep almost buying this on steam.  Enough bugs worked out to make it worth it now?
