Do you get paid for being an extra?

at our work there's 1 or two commercials filmed a year, along with a movie every few years.  terminator scene at the end was filmed there.  basically the full "armored" movie was there too.  one of the mission impossible movies when supposedly they're at a warehouse In russia or something was filmed there.  the scene in Iron Man where he deflects a tank round with his hand was filmed there.

a year and a 1/2 ago 3 guys were asked to participate in a commercial.  some made as much as 8k in residuals plus the 200 and something dollars a day plus overtime they got paid for being there.

so yeah, some get paid then again when there's a 100's of "extras" hired to be in the background like my son did, they just get pizza and soda and some raffle "prizes".

Ive worked security at many films and TV shows. They are exciting to be around and you should enjoy your experience.

I almost went down for a audition for a new police show they are making here. Honestly I cant stand Cop shows or movies so I didnt bother.

Have a fun day. I think you will.

I have ridden in the Stampede parade in Calgary with Sam Elliot, and you won't find a nicer, honest, and genuine guy in the film/tv business IMO.  He's been the Marshall of the parade several times over the years.  We've had a good talk for about 15 mins about various single action revolvers and about Wild Bill Hickock and other infamous gunfighters of the west.  He always took the time to talk with anyone who wanted to speak with him, like I said, a very genuine type of guy.

OP, I hope you have a great time being an extra.  I did it once long ago on the film Legends of the Fall, being a WW1 soldier during the scenes they shot regarding the three sons being in Europe with the Canadian army.  It was a blast, lasted several weeks while they did principal photography and shooting and such, plus Brad Pitt long before he was really famous responded to one of our guys notes inviting him out to hit the town with our group.  He wanted to drive around and look at local older architecture instead of bar hop, pretty interesting guy too back then.

Hhhmmmmm......sounds interesting.  I live in White Deer, so close enough to drive over and check it out, but.........I go out on another well in the morning and we won't be finished drilling out the plugs, much less the flowback operation or putting it to sales for at least a week.
Holler at me next time you hear of one happening in this area.  If I'm not out on a well, I'd love to experience something like this!   :salute

A blast from the past.  :salute Eddie, long time no see. I don't see very many Assassins around anymore, tis a shame. Same here Whiskey, next time one happens around here I'd love to go as well. From looking at the pictures he posted, I think I might stick out in that crowd. :)

Sam Elliott has a piece of property in a little town called Brownsville Oregon. I had my brother drop me and my flask off at one end of middle ridge, then pick me up on the other end on my quad. Nice summer day and I am having a few drinks and just enjoying being away from humanity. I go under some low hanging trees and can't find my way back out of some ones property with out damaging a fence. Tool around for over an hour. Well as I am getting frustrated I see this 1ton dualie coming out to me. I shut down and hope the guy is going to be reasonable. Guy gets out asks me whats up. I tell him and point out I did not damage anything. I pull out my flask he asks me what I am drinking. I tell him it is Knappogue Castle 1951. It was a gift from an old friend. We take a few pulls. I then tell him he should do radio commercials imitating Sam Elliott. " Do not try TV you don't look a thing like him but the voice it is uncanny" I say. He looks at me a little odd and chuckles. He shows me where I can get out at, thanks me for not messing his fence or gates up. I tell my little bro about it and he says Sam Elliott just bought some land up here some where. Guy was nice as hell talked to me for about 45 minutes.
