that reminds me of the us president and some communist "president" talking.  the us president tells the communist that he likes to collect jokes about him.  the communist president says "that's funny, i like to collect people who tell jokes about me".

I've spent a lot of time in China in the past year with my new company.

Actually, you've got it backwards. China is not blocking this site. AH is blocking users from China.

Google isn't blocked, it routes through Google Hong Kong. Google isn't popular in many countries. It's so unpopular in Japan that they have to advertise on TV to try to get users.

Google search results in Chinese and Japanese aren't as good as other search engines. It's as simple as that. There are better products than Google. Bing is better for Chinese and Yahoo is better for Japanese.

I apologize for posting this thread killer...  ;)

I don’t think it is a thread killer, but I was talking about apples and you started comparing oranges. That it was moved to the OC killed it to a certain extent anyway. I’ve seen more asinine and irrelevant topics continue to be hosted on the General Discussion boards.

I never mentioned Google, but specifically pointed out that Facebook and Youtube are blocked which they are (except in certain urban areas).  I used Google through our holidays and I tried to Google Tiananmen Square Riots with limited (no) success.

I also tried to get AH BBS with the flag that it was a forbidden site. I don’t know at what end it was blocked or by whom. I really don’t care and just wanted to make the point (with tongue in cheek).
In the broader context there is a huge market in China for everything and if you crack it for 1.3 billion people even a small percentage of that translates into big numbers. On line gaming no exception.

Perhaps you misread the op.
