Higher Terrain Poly count only for a small area.

With the new Terrain engine in the works, I was thinking about how you could make a game world the size of AH, but allow for the terrain showing up in the Ground Combat competitors.

After watching some Closed Beta from Warthunder, it was shown in the video how the Tank map is a small area (no more then a few miles wide) that has very high detail and poly counts +many rocks/trees and bushes, while the rest of the map is much lower in detail. Now the new terrain video that HTC put out a few weeks back does not look that far off from the aircraft parts of WT maps (Big  :aok for that Hitech as I know you have huge maps compared to WT), would it be possible for a similar area in AH?

All I wish for is a small area of the map where, there are rolling hills, dry river beds, rock outcrops and small cliffs where tanks can play. It would be part of a Tank town in the center of most maps.
 
This is just an Idea and I am not sure how possible it is.

The video that was put out doesn't have the higher vertex count of the new engine, fyi.

As to a small, higher poly count region for tanks.  That might be jarring for the player when they leave that region, which in a game like AH they most certainly would.

I did not say the video did, but there is far more resemblance now in terms of Clutter and tree design.

Yes they would leave that region, but how would going from tank town to the rest of the map be any different from jumping into a Ki-84 after a Ki-43? And that is not including the 8 or so AH1 models left. If the terrain is as cluttered as it is in that video, then it wont be as jarring when you go between areas.

World jumps from high detail to low detail instead of having a consistent level of detail.

Might not matter.  Depends on implementation.

This is what it boils down to.
