12 hours is to keep down the tendency to join the winners and have an easy safe time as a super mega hoard. And the tendency for the best intentions to go by the way side in favor of the garbage friends will eventually do together to others for entertainment. It stops the natural tendency of the sharks creating roving circuses and abusing the general population. 12 hours works as an inhibitor because you don't want to get stuck somewhere if you make a bad choice. 1 hour forgives you many bad choices during the evening.

Please Mr. Hitech give me 1 hour side switching and I cross my heart and promise I won't abuse it. Is as big a lie as the second most pernicious lie after the Lucifer convinced everyone he doesn't exist.

"Sorry, I was only kidding."

To quote from the Website

"Once the conditions for winning the war have been achieved, the arena is reset, a different terrain is rotated in with the country territories randomly set, and a perk point bonus is awarded to players that have been in the winning country for a minimum of 12 hours prior to the end of the war."

Really ?  this condition can still be kept to stop the "sharks"  lol   , you guys are so paranoid it's pretty laughable. That's not even taking into account that most people have more perks than they will ever use anyway. The logic just escapes me - there is a system in place to encourage balancing numbers , but an actual mechanism also in place, to prevent people balancing numbers. Huh ?

Quite right. I think in reality spies are about as common as sasquatch, and have less real impact on anyone's MA experience.

Then spies may be more common than you think.

Side balancing is a good idea for a game, but how to go about it in THIS game is a bit of a problem.

You can't force players to a side. to many players and this includes non squad attached players are too team loyal. HTC has proven time after time that they don't like to "force" anything. They prefer to let the kiddies play.

Side switching I think could be adjusted. I don't know the "why" HTC have kept it at the 12 hour rule. Maybe it's for spies, maybe it's to stop wild swings in ENY, maybe it's curb the jumpers who don't know about win the war requirements. I don't see where a 4 hour rule could hurt, and it certainly would help those that want to jump looking for fights.

ENY, you can't make it act faster or do any other over all adjustments to it because it would effect the whole map. So if it kicked in harder it would be possible for a team to be hording on one front with an ENY restriction, at the same time trying to defend on the other front against a horde with that same ENY restriction. Zone ENY would help with that, but how much trouble would it be to implement? Would it cause the reworking of all the maps? Only HTC knows.

Better organization would help, but it is a game after all and while some players do seem to spend a lot of time playing a "Supreme Command" would have to be on all the time to keep the teams pointed in one direction. While there are a lot of people who couldn't care less about the "war" aspect of the game, those battles are what drives the action the "furballers" look for.

Side balancing is not an easy fix by any means.

I guess the question boils down to:  does the ability to switch sides make balance better or worse?  If worse, then 12 or even 24 hours is the way to go.  If better, then it should be shorter.  (Unless there is a bizarre nonlinearity in the effect, such that 12 hours works toward balance, but shorter time works toward unbalance, which I wouldn't expect to be the case, but until you try it, you don't know for sure.)

A short switch-lockout time and strong enough ENY effects seem like the tools that would work.

as has been said before, all you have to do is restrict switching earlier-than-normal to a lower # chesspiece. then it cannot unbalance.

what is unbalancing is chess piece loyalty and large squads that promote it.

I flew for several hours last night.  never had a shortage of red cons around me.  actually I cant remember the last time i logged off because there wasnt any fights.

as for this "exodus" of players you are talking about.  I dont know if you noticed but the number of players online is increasing.  last night there was 375 when I logged in at 6pm pst.  from the time I logged in till the time I logged off  there was never a shortage of fights.

and considering that most players never switch anyway, I dont understand how the a2a side of the game is "decimated".   I have been playing for 7+ years and the way we play today is basically exactly the same way we played back then.  a lot of hording from both sides, little fights in the middle.  and a few guys whining that the xxx switch time is too long and it is ruining the game.  Oh yeah, i remember when it was 1 hour and people would still whine that it was too long and they couldnt find any fights.  even if there was a zillion players in the arena.

what do you want, people to stay up late, so you get your beauty sleep?  face it, you are in the part of the world where there's few players on at that time.  either get up earlier to play with numbers or keep whining, your call.

Reduce the 12 hour and you get a bunch of tards switching sides.
-1

 Fixed

I think you should have to play on the side you choose for the camp <Month>.

I think if you switch sides your score and perks should reset to 0 every time.

12-15 sideswitchers is not going to take the boring out, or effect the game much.

Most sideswitchers arn't playing to help the low sided team Planes at GV bases will.

Yes semp, I'll quit my job to go play Aces High thats a reasonable, well thought out idea you had there. So now its not about a 12 hour switch and the pros and cons of that...the thread is actually now about pervert selfishly wanting everyone to change their log in times to suit him. You really are a turd that won't flush semp  :rofl, I wonder why I bother even attempting to have a rational debate with you.

why?

I could understand if the game was along the lines of WW2 online.....

I would even agree with you then....but due to the sandbox nature of the MA.....To me it seems counter intuitive to limit side switching....the MA part of the game does not in any way replicate WW2....

the MA is for 1 thing....combat.....

People who play at prime time don't realize that they have no problems.  Their complaints (to a starving neighbor) are about how their filet mignon is slightly underseasoned.
