:rofl :rofl :rofl Nope....I'm not liking this idea. I would however, entertain the idea of more than 1 player being able to man the guns at one time.  :devil

I wish that HiTech would make it were you can fly the bomber and the ai crew will fire the guns.So if your in the bombsight the crew can fire back on their own.

I get why the OP wants this. we've all been through it...

Alright All lined up on target, check. Calculated wind sheer through bombsight, check. Airspeed nominal, check.  Bogey on my high flank not making a move on my formation for the past 15 minutes, check.  Time to drop bombs, check! 3.... 2... 1.... PING PING PING ARGHHH BOGEYS ALL OVER ME!!!!  :x

It's just frustrating more than anything, fighter jocks worth their weight in fuel and ords know when to attack a bomber and when to be patient. I would say from that I've learned thus far is:
  • A. Safety in numbers, get a few more formations up to help with protection
  • B. Ensure that you are on final approach when you hit the dar ring, not still climbing, not still looking at clipboard map to see what your line will be, etc. etc.
  • C. Call for a gunner!!!!!! You CAN play host to a single player which can gun for you while you're putting eggs into the pickle barrel. Don't underestimate the value of a second set of eyes in your formation with a finger on the gunnery trigger.

Overall, from what I've read on her, AND experienced in the AvA arena with AI gunners enabled, YOU DO NOT WANT AI GUNNERS!!!!!!

You could still fire  them yourself, but while your piloting the plane they will engage enemys
how do you this^^^ to work..desides i like fireing the guns myself..how would you target the  ene plane.how would you know where the plane is while sitting in your bombsight..how how how...leave it like it is.....p.s. 999000 doesent have any problem shooting down planes-nor alot of other people.

I disagree with his recommendation.

A revised recommendation is to let more people be gunners in bombers like Air Warrior. Full death star. For example a B17, fill all six guns ( except may be the front gun since the bombardier was the front gunner also right? that will be controlled by the pilot for calibration, its debatable)  Since there is a trio, this part is also debatable, guys can jump into drone guns or let more people in to be gunners in the drones also.

I was just hoping for bomber gunners to be more realistic and actually shoot when your piloting the aircraft. IRL I havent read about any german pilot saying that bombers were easy to get to and kill like they are in Aces High 2

I could see this if it had to be selected up front like "Auto takeoff", the pilot could not use the guns at all for that sortie and the AIs were in accuracy range of unmanned field ack.

Uhm...

This has been a conflict for a very long time. I'd rather not have this implemented, but rather the ability to have up to 3 gunners in a bomber at any given time. Auto guns? I just can't see it being a good idea.

Sorry mate, -1.

The difference is that in WWII bombers flew in large formations with escorts, a concept that is foreign to Aces High bomber pilots.

There are some upsides though!
You are equipped with GPS guided bombs that can hit any target from 35k.
Your gunners (While you are in the guns) can coordinate and concentrate their fire into a 1moa dot at 1k out.
The Lancaster is a fantastic divebomber.

The more players you allow to become crew for something, the more players you don't have as a commander of something to shoot at and shoot back.

Take some of the huge bomber missions in this game and populate each bomber with a gunner rather than 2 to 3 fighter escort per box. Some will be fantastic gunners. Most will use up their ammo and have wasted an hour of their play time and efforts along with their bomber being shot down.

Else where on the map it will be noticed that there is a shortage of bodies. Including to the detriment of the gunners country as bases are more easily rolled while they are sitting in a can for an hour wondering where the defenders are for them to shoot at. There is no real target in the MA to bomb that will stop cold the target country's hoard from steam rolling bases while you are bombing behind them. Ultimately it takes rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty directly against the hoard. The game is organized to promote fighting over things rather than knock out blows to end campaigns.

One of the hallmarks of most wishes in this game, is the lack of caring or enumerating any possible unintended consequences by their owners. So Hitech gets to be the bad guy because he has to look at wishes from all the things that could or will go wrong, against the overall benefit to the whole player population as they play the game together beyond this week, month, or year.
