Per bomb, yes, if you hit directly. AP bombs do 50% more damage than a GP bomb of same weight, at a cost of greatly reduced blast radius.
So, basically if you compare a 500 lb GP bomb to a 500 lb AP bomb, here are the actual numbers:
A 500 lb GP bomb = 562 lbs of actual damage to a target.
A 500 lb AP bombs = 843 lbs of actual damage to a target (150% of GP bomb).
HOWEVER, as Lusche mentioned the splash area is reduced so if you're target is a town center leave the AP bomb in the hanger and take the GP bomb instead (or HC). An AP bomb has only 20% of the splash area as a GP bomb.
Also, FWIW, the SAP bomb does 125% damage comparatively. So that 500 lb GP bomb that does 562 lbs of damage that we use as a basis now becomes 702 lbs of damage as an SAP (semi-armor piercing) bomb.
Last but not least, those bombs with the HC designation deliver LESS damage per pound but have a larger splash area. So bombs like the cookie are nice when a town or factory is the target.
So now you know... the REST of the story.
