Kamikazes
« on: March 10, 2014, 03:52:09 PM »
<S>

Would be interesting to get historical Kamikaze planes and their specific bombing system : The CV groups arent  easy to approach and get into Jabo bombing position,
so it would be a very valuable weapon against them, and an historical asset for the game....

No.  Players already do this with suicide 38s, 47s, 51s and Tiffies.  More encouragement is not needed.

You cant suicide AND damage any boat or building with ANY bomb in this game : the bombs system wont trigger under 1000 feets bomb "run".

Btw have u ever tried to suicide a fighter against a bomber : wont work (and thats fine for me).

I have tried off and on for sometime to get the Cherry Blossom planes with no success. The suicide planes would be Japanese only and only used for ships. A separate plane(s) marked suicide would be available in the hanger. A perk price would be put on the plane which you would loose since your plane would be destroyed. No matter if the plane was shot down, ran out gas , or what, you loose the perk points. As the pilots lost their lives, you would loose the perk points. The perk for a plane of such could be 100, 200, or what ever deemed appropriate. It was a reality.

Add a 15 minute wait time in the tower after each run and I think it would be an ok idea. If there is no wait time you'll have lines of kamikazes running out to dive into cv groups sitting right off the coast. Bad enough we have to chase down lines of divebombing buffs.

so you drop at 1000 and follow it in and auger. presto. kamikaze.

unless you stink bad enough at dive bombing that you'd miss a ship from 1000 ft. I suppose that is possible.

Kamikaze bombing, as in the link i posted, allows to target with a deadly precision, even with an unusual angle (ie flying fast, doing hard stick manoevers to dodge enemy CV group fire, then bomb enemy ship with an enormous precision).

You can also do a sea level high speed run (which u cant do with torp planes) and bomb the ship from side.

If Kamikazes were used, thats (also) for this precision bombing capability and AAA dodging.

All it would be in game is a method to destroy inanimate objects while avoiding actually fighting other players.

Oh, it would also be controversial and possibly insulting to American and Japanese players.

Kamikaze was a desperate and frankly bad tactic that was only tried because Japan had a confluence of hopeless strategic situation and a crazy regime. No no no.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Well, it was a bad tactic compared to surrendering.  As they were determined to fight on it was about the best tactic they had.  Putting those Japanese boys into combat against the overwhelming power of the United States Military would make them just as dead with a far, far lower likelyhood of them damaging the US Military in the process.

Not! I think they should allow them, then once you use the plane; hit, miss, or shot down, they are banned from the game for life. Tey wanz realisticism..... let em have a safe taste of it. It be voluntary!   :airplane:

If that's the case, anytime you get killed, you should be banned for life.Suicide was a bad idea, so was war.

This is true why do you need an A6M Kamikaze with a single 500 lb bomb when you can do more damage already with one of the aircraft above?
Plus the Kamikaze really wasn't an effective weapon. They didnt sink one fleet carrier, their biggest contribution was psycological and that
just won't transfer into the game. If they were to be added they should be a 1000 perk point minimum and once you crash any remaining
bomber perks would be set to 0.
